What’s funny about this thread is every time we come on here and start bagging on him, he goes on a tear. And that tear lasts just long enough for his supporters to start coming on patting themselves on the back for being right. After which he immediately goes on an extended drought and the cycle repeats lol! He goes as we go it seems lol.

ok cool. based on that observation we all here should really bag the shit outta him - could make him an all-star in no time.

Horrible dive on the penalty call before our 4th goal. He was lucky he didn't get 2 minutes for embellishment + 10 for unsportsmanlike misconduct. Just pathetic.
Also, 2 absolutely wothless, lucky assists. Just trade him to Vancouver for Kravtsov.

I really like his game right now, whether he's producing or not. That pass to Kakko was sneaky af and borderline elite - he really should've had a third point. I think Kakko also flubbed another one late in the game that would've given him another assist

COVID happened to EVERYONE on this planet FFS

NO one gets to use it as an excuse... it affected everyone... some wayyyyyy more than Laf
Dude. I said it affected everyone. If you feel it affected everyone EQUALLY, good luck demonstrating that. Besides that means EVERYONE GETS TO USE IT AS AN EXCUSE. You know, since it happened to EVERYONE, FFS.
In any case, AGAIN, my mention of COVID was simply in reference to how many games Laf has played. He’s a player who hasn’t completed a third year yet and one of his two completed years were truncated by COVID. So he has not played much more than 200 games despite getting toward the end of his third season. I’m not sure how that is difficult for you to grasp. Unless you just don’t want to.

I'd be ok with people calling it like it is & not jumping through hoops in every effort to prove anything but, he's not what he was supposed to be.
Weirdly enough I haven’t seen ANYONE say he IS what he is supposed to be… just that he can still BECOME what he was supposed to become. Which isn’t as wild as proclaiming he can NEVER be what he was supposed to be. At 21 years old with less than three seasons under his belt. Hahahaha.

laf was awesome again tonight. kakko was on as well just couldn't finish. really hope they can be consistent. laf looked great with the puck, he's a really good skater when he has the puck at high speed....controls his pace really well and is smooth on his edges...he's probably our 2nd best player taking guys on 1 on 1 in flight. he's going to put up a lot of points sooner than later. hopefully that's starting now

His second period was terrific. It was actually fun to see him skate around with and without the puck. Looking much more confident.

Ed laughing at any positive post about Laf or Kakko yet being a cheerleader for a benched 4th liner in Vancouver is probably my favorite thing on the board. I'm sure he is a Rangers fan, but if he was some secret agent Islander/Devils fan it would not surprise me in the slightest. No one hates the Rangers more on the NHL boards.

How many people bagged on Chytil last year? He's doing pretty well this year. He's the one that drives that line and he could end up being the reason we go deep into the playoffs this year.

Laf (and Kakko) continue to improve. That's really all we can ask for. No, he isn't the superstar we all hoped for when we drafted him, but it's time for people to get over that and start appreciating him for what he is. I imagine a lot of Ottawa fans were disappointed with Zibanejad early in his career too, because he didn't live up to their expectations.

I'm hoping to see both Laf and Kakko take a Chytil-like jump in production next season. I think they can do it, especially if they get a bit more opportunity in the top 6 and on the PP.

Both of them are so close to finally putting it together, I feel. They should be able to make that Chytil-like jump next season, if they continue their paths. Reading the plays is the key, imo. Chytil reads situations on offense a lot better than even 2 seasons ago.

I don't think any one player has been driving that line, sometimes it's Chytil, sometimes its Laf, sometimes it's Kakko.

I think people confuse Chytl is the most aggressive and the best skater with line driver. It's clearly a team effort, which is why we will not go far in the playoffs if this line doesn't stand out like it did last year.
