Great passer.
Laser beam wrist shot.
Finisher when he gets a chance to.
Good body checker.
He needs to work on skating. Keep feet moving.
He’s had almost zero Pp time.

He doesn't use his shot, but he has it.

His shootout goal was clutch. He helped saved that game.

He looked 100% confident in that moment.

His hitting and grit have so far outshone his skating, passing and shooting.

Shooting is great, if you ask me. Not much else though. Grit is coming, his hits are too light, that'll change though with age.

Whatever, I'm patient. Laf has shown one invaluable thing, a knack for scoring in big moments.

Could he become like that legendary Leafs captain? I think I mean Wendel Clark. Would that be a good thing?

Re-Byfield: His skating is bonkers, but he'll be Hagelin if he can't play-make at that pace. Yesterday's game didn't make me hate the fact.

I didn’t think Byfield looked like all that great of a skater last night
Byfield looked like an extremely dynamic skater, coupled with his size that gives him the potential to be a great player, but his hands and body were nowhere near the level of his skating.

Maybe I was looking at my phone during some of his shifts but he wasn’t the burner I was expecting to see lol. Didn’t look any faster than Laf to me

I just don't seee the issues that everyone else sees with Laffy. His first step acceleration definitely needs improvement but his speed is not bad. It's above average and way better than Kakkos skating.

Kakko might be the slowest player in the league with the puck on his stick and going through the neutral zone

Thought Byfield skated well. Definitely a better skater than Kakko or Laf at this stage, which I think is a big part of the latter two's lack of production. When you skate well, you create time and space for yourself to use the rest of your skillset.

And yet he has 1 points in 9 NHL games in his career.

Byfield was always going to be more of a project though, he doesn’t have elite hands, and while he’s fast and big he doesn’t have the strength and skill to properly utilize them.
Laf was always the better immediate talent, while byfield may eventually have the better career but he has to grow into it.

Fox was taking the puck from Byfield at will in the D-Zone, fun to watch.

As for Lafreniere, the Rangers seem pretty content to take him along slowly as they enter this window. He's not going to get the PP ice team he would ideally get on a lesser team. I think he will begin to play better when the Rangers bring in another top 6 Forward to slot players down in the lineup. Playing 3rd line with Goodrow and some mix of Barron/deadline addition during a playoff run will be good for him long term. Give him the experience to take on bigger roles in the coming years

Yakupov was a shitbag. The person was the problem not the talent.

I'm not worried about Laffy. Kakko I'm worried about his mental aspect
Maybe he needs a Finnish buddy on the roster ? A nasty Finnish buddy on the team...help the team and help KK . There must be one out there .

Yet Kakko's possession metrics are best in the team. The fact is that Kakko has promising analytics with poor production when Laf has poor analytics with poor production.

Hope they both will figure it out.
