What do you expect when this organization has Jed Ortmeyer and Tanner Glass as development coaches?
He needs to go to Hartford. Immediately.
this makes no sense. teachers of every stripe can't do what they teach. What do you expect when this organization has Jed Ortmeyer and Tanner Glass as development coaches?
Alexis Lafreniere is giving me Alexandre Daigle vibes
That would be great, Stepan was a legit number 1 center, even if it was low-end. Right now it's questionable whether Lafreniere will even get to that level.Derek Stepan vibes for me.

Derek Stepan vibes for me.
Stepan at least had a hat-trick his first game.
I hope he is, if he has that alpha mentality it would piss him off and motivate him to prove everyone wrong. If it upsets him and makes him play worse then frankly he doesn't have the mentality to be a star. I remember in a provincial championship we were down with about 30 seconds left and iced it and my coach was yelling at me to come right off after the draw, it pissed me off and I went coast to coast and scored. I could literally hear him yelling as I carried it in without coming off, he was mad. That infuriated me and is what pushed me to score. The goal got disallowed because they couldn't tell whether it crossed the goal line, I glared back at my coach and he let me stay out there, I won the draw again, deked around a couple guys and scored again to tie the game with 5 seconds left. He needs that EdJovanovski alpha dog mentality!Welp. I just hope he ain't reading this shit.

Maybe he meant Patrik StefanStepan was noticeable when he was not scoring. Lafy has not been noticeable at all
Thank you for putting aside our teams’ bitter rivalries to provide some outside perspective and encouragement. Really appreciate your candid support.I let out a big ol' puke before coming this way but..
you guys have gotta calm down on Kakko and Lafreniere. Theyre two quiet boys who came from vastly different societies and are barely even what Id call a citizen of NYC, the hallmark eat-em-up-and-spit-them-out city in the world.
Alexis has had noted confidence issues in the past (an interview in juniors where he spoke to adjusting to being on his own) and Kaapo was visibly distraught during the entire pre and post draft process.
Yes theres been time since but they havent been put into positions that Hischier or Hughes have, or Lundell or Knight have, or Raymond or Seider, or Stuetzle or Chabot, so on and so on....
These are elite talent hockey players who, their entire lives, have seen themselves as having one purpose: to be good at hockey and make a living of it. And Now theyre struggling mightily and its not just a game anymore, its their entire livelihood. Im
Sure everyone here has stressed at work and said just once 'what if i lose my job', and that spiral mentally..
I wont get into upsides because Im a Devils fan and no matter what I say itll be considered heresy. But Lafreniere still has top-10 player potential, his game is extremely cerebral and that never works without confidence and mental engagement. And Kaapo is another Pavel Zacha, a long way from home whos father was everything to them and (not to mention) are a bigger bodied forward who takes longer generally.
So as a Devils fan who despises anything NY sports besides the Mets.... nut up (or woman up) and take this in stride and support them; dont make my grandfather, grandmother, and other NYC descendants look bad with these wimpy comments about giving up and guys being busts before they can even legally attend a bar crawl

Yea I don't think culture shock of moving from Canada to America should be used as an excuse at all lol. Especially as a kid who's been groomed for this his entire life, he's played tons of tournaments & stuff all over alongside kids from other parts of Canada that are much more Americanized than Quebec.Kakko sure.
But how different is Quebec? I mean, aside from speaking Quebecois french, it's not like Quebec is SO different than the rest of North America. Montreal certainly isn't. Quebec City a bit more so, but still. And whatever suburb he might from, isn't that different either.
I get that excuse with Kakko. But Laf? Not so much.
