People think I’m joking but I don’t get how they don’t see the fact that Kravtsov has so many elite tools like the other young studs around the league. He has that elite eye-popping skating, not only his speed but his strides are very elegant and perfect mechanics. He has elite hands and is not afraid to pull off very flashy dangles. He has an elite shot and doesn’t hesitate letting it go. Elite positional awareness in his forechecking & backchecking, great playmaking, great size and reach. So many aspects of his game that just ooze the skill that people complain about Laf & Kakko lacking compared to other young talents. And he has the confidence to flash it, he plays with a lot more swagger than Laf or Kakko imo
All that swagger and elite level skills equates to 4 points in 20 career games.Someone inform Drury hes holding back the greatest player ever born

don't be disingenuous. 20 games on the 4th line with Brett Howden and Kevin Rooney. Nino Niederreiter had 1 points in 55 games under similar circumstances. Rangers have no clue how to develop forwards

There were also 2 assists that he was for some reason not awarded (even go back and read the GDT’s), his beautiful first NHL goal that he created all himself from his forecheck got called back on a controversial offside challenge, in his very first NHL game with seconds left he just about scored the GWG while falling down and got absolutely robbed. If those things went his way he’d have 8pts in 20 games on the 4th line lol.

People are doing some serious revisionist history here because they’re acting out of emotions, if you go back and read the GDT’s people were calling him our most dangerous player other than Panarin and saying they wished Laf & Kakko looked like this out of the gate. He got the most 2 star votes of any player on our team in the last 20 games. He was also forechecking and backchecking like a madman

Your infatuation of him is bordering on creepy

Kovalev, York, Callahan, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Moore, Boyle, Stepan, Zuccarello, Kreider, Miller, Hagelin, Fast, Vesey, Hayes, Buchnevich and Chytil are/were all forwards if I remember correctly.

putting Kovalev and Vesey in the same sentence ruins the argument. They develop nice forwards that actually do nothing.

If you want to make a blanket statement about the Rangers not being able to develop forwards I can make a blanket statement about the ones they have.

Vesey has 356 games under his belt and scored last night.

What's Kravstov been up to?

When you have to go all the back to Kovalev when we’ve had all these high draft picks..you know we suck at developing forwards lol

Its a myth. They have drafted like shit at the top of the first round, no rocket science there.

But what data do we have that they "have no clue" at developing top drafted forwards when they have only had like 8 in their history? The jury is still out on Kakko and Laf.

The forwards they have developed were drafted much lower, undrafted or traded for early in their careers. Which would suggest they havent been bad at all developing forwards.

yeah, they've drawn needles from the hay. Jackhammers? Absolutely not. I don't know if it isn't that they don't know how, but they certainly do not produce high end forwards

... Also worth saying, that at a certain point, maybe a little before everyone else on this board seems to think, it's really up to a player, his level of ability, his level of commitment... Number one and two are not there yet but are very very close where they're going to start drawing more ridicule. In two years, Kakko has been as good offensively as Kravtsov was overall earlier this year. PS - I really don't blame him, or the team... Actually, not for nothing... And this is not saying anything about Gallant, but I think DQ had this case in his back pocket with the old Irish charm.

I’m saying other players even Vesey were gifted spots when they didn’t perform. People sour on Kravtsov because of this debacle but if we went back to when we were making the roster cuts I guarantee over 95% of this board would have Kravtsov making the team.

This thread is not about Kravtsov. Save your spamming for the Kravtsov thread.

In any case... It's very hard to gauge if Lafreniere has really improved much at all to me. Definitely faster, definitely stronger, going take time to learn and approach to actual offense under a veteran coach... That to me would be the difference between a 50 point season by him, which I admit, I'm justifiably expecting, and a 95 pt.

He's a one overall pick who was once considered the best French-Canadian player ever ( that includes Rod Gilbert, the best Ranger ever). I am personally a little heartbroken.

It took Jack Hughes over 2 seasons to begin realizing his potential (although it is very early still, it seems like he will).

Hughes
PPG%
1st season - .340
2nd season - .550

Laf
PPG%
1st season - .375
2nd season - ?

Laf scored about .60% in the last 20 games of last season, with that rate he would be on a similar trajectory - 50-58 points.

For me, I think whats most concerning is his lack of assists. In his final two seasons in the Q and at the WJs he was a play driving assist machine, similar to Hughes. We arent seeing much of that from him yet, he doesnt have the puck on his stick enough. But an interesting correlation here of two #1s.

It may just take a little longer for some of these kids to find the pace of the game. Hoepfully thats whats going on here. It was obvious from the start he wasnt going to be a Matthews or McDavid as far as production, but it woudlve been nice...

I just know talent when I see it. We will regret this if he moves on to another team

Depends what comes back for him and whether or not he comes anywhere near his ceiling.
I know you are being hyperbolic a lot of the time for humor, to make a point and for the reactions, but you certainly aren't wrong that he still has a TON of potential. Unfortunately he may never have the head for the NHL game and all that goes along with it, like dealing with adversity... I guess we will see either way.

He's got to keep skating and moving the entire shift. He's not doing that now. He's still tentative with the physicality. He also has to skate to where the play will be. He makes those sneaky centering passes sometimes, which proves he has the vision. But he's improving little by little to me.

Kakko seemed to be the exact same. No explosiveness on the ice. Still looks kinda sluggish to me, frankly.
