He's had a tough year, but hopefully he can turn it around here. I'll wait and see on that one, but I liked what I saw previously, so hopefully he can add some stability. The team still has too many questions marks on the right side. How will Mailloux adapt to the speed of the NHL ? How will Reinbachers skating and timing look after a serious knee injury ?

From the descriptions we're getting, he sounds like a good pickup all things considered. He's mobile, and he plays good D. Looking at his numbers the offense isn't as bad as I expected. I think he could look good with Xhekaj or Guhle.

Gonna fetch us a 1st in a year or 2 when Reinbacher/Mailloux are ready but in the meantime, welcome back home.
Nashville fan here. He's not going to net you a 1st, if he was going to we'd have done it by now.

He's a good no.5 defenseman who can play in the top 4 sporadically or more permanently when tied to a more stable partner.

I’m not a scout by any means but the closest player I see to Alex Carrier is probably Chris Tanev.
For his size he’s very physical and has active pokecheck.
If the goal is to win a trade, then yes we got the better player of the two Carrier/Barron.

5’11”-6’0” for a defenseman is small. But so is Kris Letang.

Put them neck and neck and it becomes obvious why Trotz could not resist reaching for Barron. :sarcasm:

Like someone said in the trade thread, his futur coach is actually a good comparable

Let see how Carrier turns out here. Hopefully, MSL doesn't start playing him 25 minutes a night. Should stick at 20ish, especially with 6 Ds who can play 18-22 minutes on the line-up now.

That X poster should have found a way to bring up Fabro too.
They replaced Fabro and Carrier with Barron. Major tank move!

Thx...................seems like a slight move forward for the habs, this guy seems steady. Barron had been struggling this year, and with Savard on the move after January, we needed someone who would be a steady influence back there................was a little surprised on his cap hit, at 3.75M
Also noticed his agent is Vinny's brother?? Phillipe Lecavalier.

I saw the Poche Blue segment from yesterday. Alex is super happy to come back home.

He also wasn't expecting a trade. If the Habs asked for Carrier without him being available and it only cost them Barron.

I like this deal. Carrier can be a very good #5 defenseman for the Habs.

He is a better D-man than Barron at this moment.

I think he can surprise a lot!
Hopefully we aren't playing him on his weak side at #5

Carrier has experience at the very least, and he's played some top 4 minutes in the past. He should be a solidifying presence. I was definitely not the biggest fan of Barron at this point, so it's no skin off my teeth, he can be someone else's problem.

He needed to solidify his spot this season with how the organization perceives Mailloux and Reinbacher. He did not take the necessary leap and they got some certainty on the blueline this year when they've needed it.

He had his window with the organization and it closed. I don't discount the possibility he could still be a PP2, 3rd pair RD for the Predators long term. He was just gonna get passed over here in short order.
