Player Discussion Alexandre Carrier

Lol, the "L"

Do you have some of these stupid delusion pills.

If Wilson does this to McDavid, how many tens of games out he gets by the league?
McDavid knows to protect himself. Have you ever played contact hockey before?

I hope he's here long term along with Reinbacher, Ghule, Hutson, and Xhekaj. That's already 5. Would be great to see what Xhekaj could do with Carrier as his partner.

Ideally you trade Matheson for an RD.

Yeah Carrier needs to play with a big mf'er because the amount of abuse he took during the playoffs is insane. I'd like a Xhekaj/Carrier tandem as well.

What a great acquisition that turned the season around. I liked him a lot on the 2nd pairing with Guhle before Kaiden cut himself with his skate. Both are warriors and make a really good duo.

Also what timing of the acquisition - 6 days after that pitiful loss to Pens having surrendered 6G in 3rd

Yep being too nice against a bully always ends up bad
The big problem is that the NHL looked at the issue and decided that what fans want to see is big bullies injuring little guys. The reffing has been pretty consistent:

If a big guy hits a little guy and the little guy got hurt it's because he's too little to play hockey.

If a little guy hits a big guy and the big guy reacts it must be a cheap shot so the little guy gets a penalty.

There are exceptions if the little guy is a terrible human being or plays for a team owned by a terrible human being.

Guhle and Struble have mean streaks. Steuble is sub 6-2 though, amd Guhle isn't thick.

We also traded Romanov...

But there's more than one way to build a dcore. Colorado won with Makar, Girard, Byram, old Erik Johnson, old Jack Johnson, and Toews. Old Manson was mean.
Guhle has said he doesn't want to bulk up because he worries it would affect his game, but he probably needs to fill out a bit. Struble is about as developed as he can reasonably get.

You don't need 4-6 huge, physical D, you need 2-4. Ideally 4 with at least 2 of them being really good players. It showed in the series, the habs were competitive in the first two games on the road, they won the third one pretty easily, and then they took a few cheap shots from a big fringe nhler and ran out of gas. It's not only the playoff series, they were playing desperate hockey for months while the Caps were coasting, but they need some size and grit. They can win in the regular season with skilled guys like Hutson and Caufield, and guys like Gallagher who get hit but don't hit (and take penalties but don't draw any, no matter how much they bleed), but in the playoffs they need some guys who can balance the physical wear and tear. That probably means at least a couple of forwards who aren't really good but who make lots of hits, and at least one similar D. I don't mean they can replace Armia and Xhekaj by other physical players, I mean they keep every big, physical guy they have and replace at least 3 guys by bigger, meaner worse hockey players.

I say this, and I argue that fighting has no place in hockey. Bettman is a very bad man.

Yes! In the past Guhle has said he didn't want to bulk up so it would affect his speed.

But! If you listen to his end of season interview today, he said what he learned from this playoffs is he needs to get stronger. He's going to take a week break and then he's looking forward to getting in the gym!
