Anyone know why his Providence numbers dropped a little this year? 0.73 PPG. I'd love him to have the same impact as Spooner but... I don't know, this Spooner thing feels special. I'm very reluctant to put him on the trading block after the recent spell

He was hurt for a while...he might have had a couple of injuries....I am not sure. He may be hampered by some lingering effects. Also losing Griffith, Pasta and spooner all at different times has had an effect on his productivity.

Just spitballing.

The B's braintrust has obviously been wrong before, but until recently, they were higher on KoKo than Spooner. Many seem to fill that he has a "grittier" game than Spooner's that will better adapt to the NHL.

Could be bored of the AHL too. Sees spooner called up, ferlin gets a lengthy call up, pastrnak called up permanently. Wouldn't be surprised if he's irritated he only gets 2 game cups of coffee every 4 months when he's been more productive in the AHL than most forwards called up this year.

Guys think any deal involving B's/Hawks could be worked out that would see swap of Mark McNeill and Alexander Khokhlachev?

Hawks have too many wingers in system and lack C's while B's appear to have glut of C's and lack of W's

Teravainen has been playing mostly wing so his future at C seems uncertain at this point

Thoughts on a McNeill/Khokhlachev swap?

I'd say yes, don't see Koko getting a chance with the bruins and if he can get that with the Hawks then yes.

On TT, I think they are giving him time to learn the game and are giving him some time to bulk up before putting the full pressure on him and try him on the #2C spot, they obviously have high expectations towards him.
I'm waiting to see saad-TT-kane experiment next year.

Probably is plan with TT but I think it might be best for Hawks to put him in LW spot and have him learn that role at this point

Teravainen-Toews-Hossa
Saad-Khokhlachev-Kane

Would be a pretty exciting top 6 IMO. TT would be protected defensively on that line and can focus on being playmaker of line

Saad and Kane would more then enough talent for Khok to succeed with

I think he's been only meh since he got sent down with a wicked cheap shot by Fluto in the Globe. Koko not a Claude guy neither was Spooner but 'necessity is the mother of invention
' and Claude needed Spooner

I think Koko would be great with Chicago. I've seen him a bunch and think I know more about his personality and makeup than pretty much everyone here. That said- two thumbs up

Hey! A trade offer that makes sense! I love it.

Didn't think McNeil would be a guy the Hawks would seriously look at trading, but where they are in their respective developments, Khokhlachev and him are right around the same place. It's one of those moves that I think could be beneficial to both teams.

Nice work.

Well Hawks drafted McNeill thinking he would be the guy to fill our #2C role someday. It didn't work out as they moved him to wing

And at this point with Hartman + Ross strong play it seems very much McNeill could be leapfrogged by them as prospects

Infact the call up of Hartman this year instead of McNeill did seem to send message that Hawks are higher on Hartman at this point

Does this guy finally get his chance to play with the big club next year? I would say he would be nice on the third line.

Doubt it. Not after Spooner's end to the season. He doesn't fit and I don't think he'd make a great 4th liner. Bs are in a pickle here, everyone thought he would be 'the one' once Soda was gone but Spooner put himself back in the box seat.

Honestly I don't see a need for McNeil if he's a RW. Bruins have youth and depth on RW with Pastrnak, Smith, Connolly, Ferlin, Griffith, Randell, another 2011 1st Rounder in Phillips.

After Spooner and Khoklachev the Bruins young C depth isn't all that great. Lots of 1st year pros and undrafted FA signings. I'd just as soon keep Koko than move him for a RW where I just don't see a need for McNeil.

Now if McNeil was a LW, the swap would make more sense as there is an even bigger hole at the LW postion amongst young Bruins forwards than there is at C.

I'd like to see him get a shot to start the year on the 4th line and possibly work his way up (see: Merchand). He may not be the protypical 4th liner but the NHL is trending away from these types anyways. Surround him with Talbot/Ferlin/ Kemppainen/ etc. and that line should be just fine. I think using on the verge prospects like Koko on the 4th line is becoming necessary in a lot of cases to break them into the NHL. Other teams seem to be using this approach and it seems to be working fairly well.

I want him traded.
The kid deserves a shot to try his hand at playing in the NHL and he also deserves a team that will give him the chance. unfortunately, the Bruins are not the team that can do that for him.
The Bruins are much more interested in developing future 4th line grinders and 3rd line defensive players with no offensive skill to speak of. Cuz winning 1-0 in triple OT against Buffalo is so exciting.

Young, cheap assets with upside are not things the Bruins should be ridding themselves of right now.

Koko will start in Providence and get at least 20 games as an injury replacement. No reason to put him on the 4th line. This team needs a real identity. It is a luxury to have a player that can legitimately fill in a scoring line role in case of injury.

He didn't impress me much in his brief Boston stint. Watched him in Providence a few times this season, I expected more from him at the Dunk. He has the skill, I'm hoping he pulls it all together ala Spooner and forces himself onto the big club roster. I'd absolutely love to see him centering the 4th line. Speed skill & creativity is what the 4th line has been lacking. Force the attack. Put a defensive presence on one of his wings (Talbot or a Paille type). If only Kelly was paid $2m less, he'd make a great 4th line LW with Koko at center.
