I love that during his rehab he will be in team meetings. Aside from his obvious physical traits his positivity and experience will help develop the young guys. However, his speed and size are sorely needed. Krebs was a good get, but it sounds like Adams targeted Tuch as part of the deal.

Who do you see Tuch fitting in with well linemate wise and is he a candidate for PP1 or PP2 and PK ?

Yes, KA has his and Pegulas's players who want to be here narrative now.

Ok I do have one question.

The reporting that no player would be more excited to be here and that's a reason they wanted him.

Pure speculation based where he's from? Or did the Sabres somehow speak with him?

I assume it's based on where he's from and/or public statements he's made in the past.

Also, seems like a strong bet for a longterm leadership role if not captain, right? Loves the Sabres, signed long term, noted hard worker, only guy in the room with a cup ring... seems too obvious, right?

I would think that his brother Luke will be a person of interest for the Sabres. Played for the Jr. Sabres. Drafted in the 2nd round by the Habs a couple years ago. Plays at BU.

No ring, just a Cup Final. Loads of recent playoff experience, unlike the rest of the team.

i suspect some sabres alumni that know the tuch family from summer training/community outreach would be involved. peters broke the trade, so he at least knew the go between. someone like gionta or kaleta maybe, adams peers but also in connected to the larger new york nhl community.

......
i can't remember the last time a player looked as happy as tuch did to be a sabre. maybe when kaleta got to wear the C for a game. jeff skinner possibly, had a nmc and accepted trade to buffalo.

Maybe they did their research:

Former Sabres fan Alex Tuch enjoys Buffalo ‘homecoming’

He talked about being a Sabres fan growing up when talking about how many friends and family came to the game.

Plus, I’m sure Adams knew about his work with Matt Ellis:

Tuch has strong Buffalo connections. He spent some of last summer working closely with former Sabres forward Matt Ellis, a development coach at the Academy of Hockey at HarborCenter.

“The guy’s just a really smart guy, he’s a smart player, he’s committed, he’s hardworking, just like he was when he was playing,” Tuch said of Ellis. “He’s committed to making you better.”

Yes! C'mon the GoatHead was synonymous with many of our fandom growing up. Loved it. Sure the Blue and Gold is the go to Jersey in our history but the Goat Head will always hold a dear place in my heart. Hasek tore up the league in that jersey. C'mon Pegs ! Make it our #3 jersey!
The angry goat -- in royal blue and gold.

I think Tuch is a fantastic edition. He brings so many necessary attributes.

But I would just preach caution for those expecting him to be a huge offensive contributor. He can definitely score goals and contribute offensively, but I don't believe he has the huge offensive ceiling some think.

My guess would be he tops out around 55-60 points per year for his career. Which is still terrific. But what he might lack in offense he will make up for in other areas of the ice and locker room.

I just wouldn't really expect him to have any 70-PPG type seasons. Unless he takes another big step in his development. Which isn't out of the question, but at this point, I think a bit less likely to occur.

I think it should go to Olofsson due to seniority. At his age, I can't see him playing past next season. Tuch gets his chance then.

Since Olofsson is 26 and Tuch is 25….. and most know that I’ve pumped both their tires for years…. I think you are trolling me. Or whatever the kids say these days….

(There is someone trying to deal Olofsson on the Trade Board who contents VO will be too old by the time the Sabres are good.)
