Don't hate the trade. I think value is there but not sure I would've done it. I hope something else is cooking;

1. Trade Andy, Dvorak and Edmundson to replace the picks
2. Capitalize on surplus of middle-6 undersized forwards to fill other holes (G, RD)

At first glance, a 1st and a 2nd for Newhook seems a little steep. Then again, it's the 31st and 37th pick, so almost two 2nd round picks so it's might be worth the gamble.

Only thing I don't like about the trade is adding another short player who is most effective in a top 6 that's already crowded with short players and potentially missing out on a falling 1st round talent (I was hoping Dragicevic or Musty fell to 31st or pick an Owen Beck quality player with the 37th).

Sucks to lose so much premium draft capital.

Sucks Hughes couldn’t sell a single piece last trade deadline.

Let’s hope Newhook has more in him than COL sees. The Habs hit on Dach, let’s hope they hit in Newhook.

I wonder if we actually do trade down with Philly for their 2 1sts+ to get back draft capital....seems strange to trade 31/37 but I guess the odds of those picks becoming a NHL'er aren't sure things.

Welcome Newhook. I remember wanting him, CC or Krebs on draft day, and then they all went in consecutive order.
