Not really sure what to think about this trade TBH. I haven't watched Newhook much but from the few times I did watch him I was pretty underwhelmed really but I hope this works out for Hughes and the Habs but I don't really like trading these 2 picks in this years draft.

Newhook is not a sure shot center. More likely Hoffman and/or Armia are gone.

Not sure I like this trade or not. I think we could have drafted some D with those picks. I was a huge Newhook fan pre draft too.

Can someone hype up Newhook? I don't see the same upside that Dach had and not sure why we did this.

I had him 6th his draft year, he’s a very talented player with all the tools you’d want in a top 6 player.

I mentioned I wanted Newhook, but this does seem like a steep price for him. Then again, I was shocked at the Dach trade and it looks like very good value 1 year later. That said, a lot of us in the draft thread were very high on Newhook. He was a legitimate choice vs Caufield in 2019.

Marc Bergevin: Centers are hard to trade for. You have to get the via the draft (proceeds to pick Galchenyuk and KK).

Kent Hughes: Centers acquired via trade: Dach, Monahan & Newhook.


Although to be fair to MB, he did acquire our best center via trade in Suzuki.
