I think he's dealt after this season but he has done a remarkable job so far. Part of that is because he isn't being shoehorned in at C, Kerfoot is a winger all day and this is where he excels.

Reliable two way player and he's underrated in the sense he can play with high end players and not look out of place. He has earned his cap hit so far this season, and this is coming from someone who adamantly wanted him gone at the ED.

Sell high. We’ll need the cap space & Kampf took the 3 C job

There’s plenty of other contracts to move to make cap space before Kerfoot. At $3.5m he’s great value in the top 6.
If they want to change up the look of the team dramatically in the off-season he won’t be hard to move coming off a presumed 50ish pt. Season as a valuable PK and Swiss Army knife player.

Kampf took the 3C spot. We have 3 LWs coming down the pipeline. Sell high on Kerfoot, he’s never having a season like this again

Considering he was the throw in in the kadri Barrie trade he’s pretty decent..

He was always a valuable commodity. Not a known name like Barrie so maybe perceived as a throw in by some people but he was always a lot more than a random body.

Well to be fair, Kamp's been great but it's not like he took his job or anything, Kerfoot just moved up to the 2nd line but yeah we need the cap space. Too bad, would love to keep him.

What do you mean? Aside from greedy Mitch Kyle has gotten more than value out of his contract signings.

I agree completely. Some people just can't get over old narratives and will slag Dubas until the end of time but other than the Marner contract (which was terrible), contracts have been fine, no better than fine.

One can make a decent case to trade him during the offseason. Though depends on a few factors, including who they replace Soup with and how much they need for Campbell.

Otherwise there's no need to just dump him. He can be a valuable piece.

Who do you replace him with?

He would just be a one year rental, unless he's moved before the deadline.

Really depends on Mikheyev. If he continues his current pace, you probably can't keep both.

I soured on this guy early on, likely fallout from losing Kadri and it stayed that way until playoffs last year.

Loved him this season, he's gone from must trade to an extremely useful swiss army knife that during a pandemic feels vital

After his bonus is paid if they decide they want the cap space to alter the roster he’ll be a fine commodity, otherwise at $3.5 he’s good value in the lineup

We can no longer afford to pay this guy $3+. What he brings to the team can be brought by someone in the $1.5 range. Besides, do we really need someone who doesn't have an IQ above his shoe size? He's a depth player who could have been useful if he only had a brain.

Only one point in the last 5 games, two points the entire series, while playing 1st and 2nd line LW. For $3.5? With his propensity for dumb penalties? Good riddance.

He cost us pretty big in Game 6, with his ice dance program at center ice and the 5 on 3 high stick call. I’m just not sure how many franchises would allow any player to stick handle and drop pass at center ice like that this side of Bobby Orr.

Blackwell can easily replace Kerfoot

The question needs to be asked - do we even need to replace Kerfoot?

Nope, we'll run with 11F 7D moving forward.

Or, yes, but I guess what you're getting at is if we need a similar guy. We don't. We need someone different. We need to overhaul everyone in our bottom 9 we can.

You know when an athlete on a local team does something memorable (in a good way) for a team they “never have to pay for a beer here again”

This guy should have to pay triple the price for anything here after that memorable disaster

He isn't making too much for his role, but makes too much for the top heavy Leafs.

Leafs probably looking at 6 forward positions making $2mm or less.

If he played a heavy game, he'd be great at 3.5 but you can't have a top 6 forward making 3.5 who brings what Kerfoot brings.
