Blaming Galchys play on Eller is delusional and ridiculous.

I'm not. trust me Eller has really improved over last season, and obviously is better than Gal. But, and I hate to use this term, he looks like a "puck hog" out there. He usually has a linemate down low or in front, but skates around the net, either shooting, losing the puck or sending it back to the d. I don't think Gally and Eller belong on the same line. I just don't see the chemistry.

no he hasn't

IMO he has. They play great together and I love them playing on the same line. Problem is the finish. Chucky's trying more shots now, but they aren't up to the level he's capable of. I always see him look down at the puck when he's shooting, not at the net. He's just gotta tweak a few things. Eller is becoming much more confident cuz he knows chucky will be able to make that little one touch play to keep the play moving forward so that their line isn't stuck being a backchecking one constantly. Really, Lars and Alex just need some better shooting, otherwise they are the most dominant line in terms of size and talent. I wouldn't mind putting Gallagher with them for an odd shift to see what happens. It happened late in the game and was too late, too short.

I want to see Chucky try more deking cuz when he's tried, it's more than often resulted in some sick moves, but with no shot on the end of it.

Sidenote: Eller was just throwing people around today, he's really become a big body physical presence on the forecheck. Patch has done little to none of that lately.

I would love to see (When/If we're ever healthy) DD-Eller-Galch. Eller provides the physicality/Puck possession, DD sets up the other two for goals. Eller does need to feed Galch more often, but you're right Galch needs to deke more and improve his shooting. I also notice his looking down at the puck and it should be corrected. His slight delay loses the corner/hole he's shooting at. Simply a developmental obstacle which shouldn't be a big deal

The line has been terrible for the last two games and the chemistry has been non-existent. Armstrong is the real anchor on the line though, and that was my main point - he needs to be buried on the 4th where he belongs. Eller needs to be the man on his line and that's why he doesn't mesh that well with Galchenyuk. I already argued my point by saying that when Eller was producing that wasn't really due to his bond with Gall... look for his last goal as an example, I believe he was competing with Eller for it.

Not to crap on the guy, but the best thing for him right now would be to have a healthy lineup and let him sit a couple games and recharge the batteries. He seems to be a bit lost out there. Not playing bad but not producing much either.

Yeah.. he seems to be kind of just going through the motions a bit too much..

He needs more fire and passion injected into his game, ala Gallagher.

He needs to kind of stop thinking so much on the ice and just 'act', be in the moment.

He's playing a tad too careful and it shows.

He's hit the wall, which I think any reasonable person saw coming sooner or later. Between the OHL, NHL and WJC he's already played 71 games this season.

If we ever get a full healthy lineup, I wouldn't be surprised if he was given a game off here or there.

If we intend on having him play any minutes in the playoffs we should really start scaling him back a bit and giving him a rest. He didn't even play hockey last year and he's going to play over 80 games this year when others won't pass 48.

Kids don't get fatigued? They're supposed to just fly through games where they have to give double the effort they're used to given (junior kids vs men) and do it for double the games?? And just because they're 19, they should be fine?
That certainly makes a whole lot of sense..

And who centers Pacioretty and Gallagher in your vision? Prust?

Galchenyuk's rookie year is looking more and more like Seguin's but with fewer goals and more assists. However, Galchenyuk is much more advanced in his defensive zone at the same age.

I really don't see him having hit a wall. Sure he scored earlier on, but the lineup was different, the matchups have been getting harder and it's not like he had 10 goals before. He's come pretty close on multiple occasions, but is now just wiring them (his shots are insanely hard) to high or wide. We still have only seen goals from him scored by great hands near the net. His wrister and dekes haven't shown up full force, but I've noticed him trying them when he's not worried about getting caught defensively. That's part of the "problem". He's being extremely responsible and uses a ton of energy backchecking and fighting hard.

He's won many more puck battles the past few games and is using his stick to outmuscle and tie up opposing players, so maybe he's looked less offensively dangerous (not to me though), but him and Eller have definitely looked like two big bodies with skill. Armstrong is actually playing his role well and although he's not the most prolific scorer, I'm ok with these lines until we get Bourque and Prust back. Mayyyybe Dumont on that line. I say they should keep doing what they were doing. I think most will agree that the game was a good one for the Habs against Pitt and it wasn't just Ryder's posts. We were in their zone a lot and buzzing.

I've found that Galchenyuk has been improving the last few games or so. He can actually win a puck battle now, which is a welcome change. Galchenyuk still isn't very creative offensively, but that will come with time. He's been solid defensively and positions himself well. He isn't afraid to block shots and does a great job blocking the cross crease or the backdoor pass.

While he's been good defensively, the offence just isn't coming. It'll come with time, but he has to try more than get forced to the outside and then shoot high and wide, or dump and chase.

I'm not sure if Eller is the best fit for him. I'm getting tired of seeing Eller circle the net, he needs to drive the net hard and then work down low. Plus, both Galchenyuk and Eller like the centre of the ice when trying to gain the zone, so it might be time to split them up, or make them swap positions. I'd prefer to see Galchenyuk play centre, but I wouldn't be against playing him on the left side of Desharnais.

Sorry... OHL.

I don't know man, he probably would've led the league in scoring and he'd be playing center. I don't think he's playing badly, but he's not getting the same icetime he would in the minors.

He would not, not technically anyway. Not this year, especially with the way Jacques Beaulieu coaches. He would be playing LW on a line with Charles Sarault and Reid Boucher. Now, the system that they have in place there is quite different. Sarault (the centre) would normally take the draws, and let Galchenyuk do the rest in the centre of the ice. Boucher and Sarault allowed Galchenyuk to essentially do whatever he wanted, all they had to do was get open.

If we left Galchenyuk in Sarnia, he would have to stay there until his team is out of the playoffs, then he could be signed to play in Hamilton. However, then it would be back to the OHL for the 13/14 season.

Tyler Seguin had 22 pts in 74 games in his first season.

Alex Galchenyuk has 14 pts in 32 games in his first season. (That gives him 32 pts over 74 games)

Both of them played or are playing 12 minutes.

I don't see why you guys are criticizing Chuckie, he's doing quite well especially for a guy that missed a full year of development.

Chuckie will be fine. Right now he's playing with either Dumont or Armstrong on the other wing. There's not a lot he can do with that. I think if they put BGally back on his wing or Prust he'll come around. Both create room for him by going to the net.

He's the least of our worries.

No one cares about logical player progression. He has to be scoring at a 0.5 goal per game pace with a point per game. The way he already plays with confidence is what I like to see Ina kid his age. Sure he hasn't scored in a while but it's not for lack of determination or trying. This summer he will take a look at his game and learn how to adapt better for the next season.

Don't worry Nick, we aren't all bipolar fans

I'm assuming you are doing the stats comparison since I brought it up, my point of how it resembles Seguin's rookie year is more or less based on how Galchenyuk is currently playing over the last month and how both of them were breaking into the league on contending teams with good depth, unlike most top 3 picks.
