The one thing I have noticed is his play defensively. He is very reliable. For a kid who missed his entire draft year to have cracked an NHL roster the next year is impressive. I have said it before and will say it again...he would have gone 1st overall had he played last season. He has a good head on his shoulders and we will be treated to some great hockey from him for years to come.

Galchenyuk - stance
Has anyone else noticed Galchenyuk every time that he's on the ice, just because of the way he skates? His feet seem so far apart and he looks well balanced. He just sticks out like a sore thumb, but in a good way.

It was common for Russian hockey players in the seventies to play with a wide skating stance but he's an American so I'm not sure where he picked it up.
I think one of the reasons was that they were solid if they skated close to the boards, it made it harder to check them into the boards and take them out of the play.

Gallagher reminds me more of a mix between a Theo Fleury and Samsonov...a much more grittier (warrior) version of Samsonov.
Galchenyuk...he definitely has that wide stance (obvious), and not sure who he compares to anymore! Toews doesn't skate like Galchenyuk.
Anyways...Galchenyuk has been compared to many great players:
Kopitar, M.Hossa, Toews, Malkin...

Gally is young and only going to get better, right now someone just needs to tell him to have patience when entering the offensive zone, he wants to dish the puck or shoot way to fast. Of course that comes with maturity and i'm not worried but that alone would make him so much better

What I love about his game is that he is responsible defensively. So Therrien can put him out there no problem for 12 minutes, and he'll create at least one scoring opportunity a game, and sometimes his line mates capitalize on them (Like last night)

As I wrote in the PGT last night: All of Galchenyuk's assists this year are primary assists. That's pretty crazy.

He was real good last night and controlled the play in the offensive zone, what an assist! Earlier in the year he was getting points out of one or two dominant shifts in an otherwise timid game overall, but lately he has been playing that way consistently and hasn't been able to chip in. Are the floodgates going to open?
I hope so. One thing I'd like to see him improve on is his entering the zone. He holds up just after the blueline and tries dekes but all last night no one bit on them. He should go to the outside with power to establish the zone. I think that part of his game is getting predictable. He also has to hit the net way more.
Other than that, his confidence has always been there and you can tell he's getting wiser and making smarter decisions. I think Eller heating up could be a big factor in Galch getting on the scoresheet. Hopefully when we're healthy he'll have two good linemates.
Imagine if he puts it together like Duchene did in his rookie year around the 30 game mark. Suddenly the Habs become pretty legitimate.
That would be AMAZING. But I'm trying real, real hard to keep my expectations down. Aside from the long-term benefit Alex developing, if he can even turn up his production just a little bit, our team gets so much better. Imagine if he can even produce another 10-12pts in the remainder of the season. Huge impact IMO.

I'm really waiting for him to get comfortable deking guys as well as getting his shot off while he's looking at the net. He seems to be rushing things and, of course, these things will improve with time (kid is doing great!), but when does that, WOW, pure skills. He's not a "maybe" star. He's going to be one for sure. Question is when. I'm glad he's playing with Larry cuz the one thing I used to say about Eller is that he was limited by playing with players who couldn't anticipiate the plays he wanted to make. He was too skilled for his linemates. Now he has a pure skill guy and they'll both help each other. It's almost as if Larry is the big brother and that's helping HIM graduate to the next level.
He's playing pretty poorly right now, slow to react to the speed of the NHL at the moment.
Not sure what we should do with him, he seems to be losing confidence out there.

Not old enough, it was either OHL or NHL.
He'll be fine, he's 19 and its his first year pro. Takes time to adjust, but he has all the tools to be a dominant player.
Also, part of the problem is he's playing on the wing where his skill set ins't utilized to the fullest. When he was playing in the middle earlier this year he was playing his best hockey.
I think with the offense struggling it's a good opportunity to move him into the middle with Gallagher and Pacioretty and move DD to the wing on the 3rd line.
I felt he had some fire to his game near the end tonight. He's definitely still competing but he needs to put on weight and react quicker in the offensive zone. I don't think he's lost his confidence though.
