I wouldn’t mind seeing the avs give him a pto but probably no better then Kaut, Bowers or Ranta.

I'd love the Jets to pick him up as a fourth-liner.

But I thought he was going to end up with the Kraken, but if anywhere I see him signing probably Detroit.

I would have been happy to have him back. I thought he was decent enough and we had guys paid more who were not as good.

If you were expecting the player people envisioned when he went third overall, obviously that's not realistic. If you had moderate expectations, I thought he met them in his time with the Leafs.

Considering is low salary I would gladly give him a 2 years deal in Montreal and put him on the right side on the second PP unit and put him with Armia on the third line.

If he did suck as bad as you imply he wouldn’t have been offered all those chances tho
Meh taking a ultra low risk gambel on a bubble player is normal. Ill give the kid credit, he worked hard in Pitt but he is a fringe NHL player who rode a good NHL season to multiple chances

I dont know why people dump on this guy I think hes not that bad jeez.

Man - I'm starting to think you're his agent because you've been calling for the Bruins to grab him since last season. So what's your commission anyway ???? ;)

Actually if he didn't suck so badly he would have stuck somewhere and not needed all those chances.

i wonder how much that one horribly bad pass in OT played an impact in him not being signed anyplace.

Yeah. It’s a shame though because he was honestly very good for the leafs aside from that one play. He’s a dynamic player whose flaws are greatly overstated. He tries hard but kind of sucks on defence as he has a poor stick and limited agility. Offensively though he can be a game breaker and his speed and acceleration are fine. The Toronto management loved him and the players publicly mentioned his great attitude and hard work.

I thought he did well in Toronto. I'm honestly surprised they didn't keep him for some cheap forward depth.

Me too, he had some really solid moments in the top six and although he made that horrible giveaway pass he was FAR from the worst forward on Toronto in the playoffs. I imagine they kind of see it as he'd just be blocking Nick Robertson at this point though

Depending on salary, Switzerland may be a place where he eventually ends up (maybe not this year but later on). Swiss League teams can field a maximum of 4 import player (5 next year) and Galchenyuk, having started his youth career in Switzerland, is an exception. So he wouldn't occupy an import slot. He has a Swiss League license.

Very competitive salary in Switzerland and is not Russia. But if he has some ambitions, will probably end up in the NHL at even a lower net salary of what he could get in Switzerland

He will be signed or at camp on a PTO and then signed. You can't say no to his skill at a low salary. Shelter him and reap the PP rewards and glimpses of elite skill.

My guess is he was trying to get a decent contract after a small resurgence with the Leafs. And is now realizing no team is interested in paying much of anything given how inconsistent he's been.

This I think is a good idea, he probably gets better usage in a poor team. Detroit is a good call for him personally on a one year with the agreement to trade him to a contender if he has a good year might be good for all parties.
