Nick Ebert is the more logical replacement for A-Mart. Similar games and build. Also Ebert is playing his first Pro season this year.
Where do you envision Mckeown down the line? I haven't thought that highly of one of our defensive prospects since Voynov. Seems to have all the tools.

FYI, Voynov averaged $5.325 million for the 2 UFA years he gave up, and Muzzin averaged $4.25 million for the 4 UFA years he gave up.If Voynov is getting just over $4M, I think Martinez would get closer to $3M than $4M. It might be different if he puts up some PP points this season with Voynov out but he is a 3rd pairing defenseman otherwise. Maybe not to another team but if he is going to be on the 3rd pairing in LA, he is going to probably have to be paid like it.
I've heard comparisons to Brent Seabrook.
Kevin Shattenkirk would be a better comparison.

When asked whether the circumstances of playing for the Kings and living in the South Bay were ideal for a professional hockey player, he offered what amounted to be a strong affirmation.
“I think that the biggest thing is the group of guys. At the end of the day we’ve got a really good group of guys in here,†Martinez said. “Obviously L.A.’s the only thing that I know being drafted here, but talking to guys that have played in other places, they say that we’ve got something special here, and I’m a believer in that. There are probably not many teams [where] you get all the guys hanging out together at once. I think maybe the South Bay has a little bit of something to do with that and the fact that everyone’s just geographically really close to each other, just a bike ride away. But it’s also a testament to what management has done in bringing in good guys and good players and guys who get along. Obviously it’s a great group to be a part of.€
I don't recall anyone saying the Kings aren't interested in keeping him.
But it will be very hard if he's going to want $4 million as a (currently) bottom pairing niche defender.
We have 10 threads dedicated to that.
