Good win last night, but I really hate AV. Something about him bothers me...a lot.

I loved Torts... and towards the end I even said it might be time for a change...but in retrospect, it was probably a bad decision.

I would love Laviolette, and it's a shame we're stuck with this fool.

I dont know why you'd hate him this early on.

Judging from your attempt at an explanation, it looks like you dont know why either.

If he can maintain the work ethic that Torts instilled, communicate better with the players and fix the PP, it could be a very positive change.

haha I really don't...but he bothers me. I LOVE the fiery, passionate coaches ie: Iron Mike, Laviolette, Torts, and apparently Roy haha, etc.

This exactly, I totally agree. These are big "if's", at least the 1st and 3rd points, but last night looked like a step in the right direction. We played like the Torts-coached Rangers.

Last night's game was about ten times better than 90% of Torts games. Don't kid yourselves.

All of the things you guys are attributing to Torts are things all teams should do and all coaches want teams to do.

The difference is we had better zone entry than with Torts, better play in the natural zone, better breakouts, more zone time, and more shots.

Hopefully we can keep it up, but playing hard and going to the dirty areas is something we should see regardless of the coach.

Our team played well last night, even those "on notice". There's hope after all :)

But Zucc without points doesn't match. He and others had a lazy vacation and too much drinking. The hobbit needs to build up ;)

Hags coming back will help a little, but this team is just so lacking in talent. It's bordering on not even fun to watch.

Did you watch last night? You didn't think that was fun to watch? I sure did...

One gritty win sandwiched by the types of losses we've had doesn't mask the fact that we have a ton of guys overmatched at their positions.

You do realize we are playing Zuccarello and Pouliot in featured roles?

Ugh we won, and it was a good win. I'm not gonna be negative, today. Plenty of time for that left, I'm sure.

Everyone knows the aforementioned players suck.

I was killed last year when I kept hating on MZA. He just sucks. I like him...but he sucks.

He's just grumpy Hank hasn't been traded yet

Not really. When you realize your forward crop has the comparable skill and talent of guys playing with their sticks turned upside down -- perspective of where talent is needed develops.

There is a legitimate argument to think that it's easier to find a good defense and goalie who can play great at times than average forwards who can carry plays.

I like Hank, but we need top line forwards and I can't say how we'll ever get them.

IMO Zucc has been more engaged in the play than Pouliot. I haven't liked what I've seen from this guy at all. He's got beautiful hands and zero soul. Zucc might be bounced around but the guy is at least putting in an effort. If you keep trying eventually bounces start going your way. If your not trying and waiting for the play to come to you, you need to have a seat in the rafters.

Kristo has played well, lets see what he can do in Pouliot's spot. Pouliot's a bum!

In no particular order:

Zuccarello
Pouliot
Pyatt
Miller

are the 4 guys that wouldn't be in the lineup in a perfect world. Theres no choice but to play them, unfortunately.

Right.

Its much better to pretend that the fault lies elsewhere, specifically with the coach.

which is worse than incessantly blaming the GM? That's where you're going in the majority of your posts. Don't like Sather, but the roster is better than fits your narrative.

They looked faster because Washington is the slowest team they've played so far. They won because they played to their strengths.

Washington is not a slow team at all. Not sure how you judge "slowest we've played". They won because they pkd their arses off and scored a couple of goals. Torts is gone; get over it.

In zuke's case, I think he's overthinking Things and second guessing himself again...

He needs to play like he did when he came over from khl last season...

without the ego maniacal A-hole behind the bench. And the PP is better. Upward and onward.

The second he steps on the ice his shift is put at a disadvantage because of his size. His linemates lose space on the ice because he is too small physically no matter how hard he tries to regain what's closing in on him.

In other news, our 6th round pick looks just as skilled as our 15 overall pick. Future's bright. Wake me up when we actually draft a guy who can make a play on his own.

I think Brassard and Zucc are both redundant pieces on this team. They are both pass-first playmakers - Brassard has only 7 shots and Zucc has only 5 shots which is kind of alarming considering the ice time they are getting. I mean, John Moore has 11 shots on goal, and he is a defenseman who gets less ice time than Brassard and Zucc.

At least Brassard has been productive and is starting to get some assists. But neither Brassard nor Zucc can be relied upon as goal-scorers and they need to be on a line with finishers, which unfortunately is in short supply on this team.

The GM picks the players, the GM picks the coach. When you complain about the players, or the coach, its the GM that put them there.

To put it in parameters you might understand, Glen Sather acquired Brian Boyle and keeps him on the roster each year.

Zucc has played a few games for the Rangers, and if this was his problem it should have been addressed a long time ago.

He's simply out of shape, and only he can do something about that. He's also been part of some bad line combinations, zero chemistry. Torts was the better coach on the lines, I dont like the setup from this coach. On the other hand he doesn't know the players well enough yet.

Pouliot is fine. He is playing on the 2nd line when he really is just a 3rd liner. He will be fine in the right role. We are asking him to do too much.
