Monsters shoot a puck off the side of the net and people thought it went in and started throwing bears.

Rochester up 2-0. Sawchenko in net. Wondering about what Evason said about Tarasov not getting waived as Jet has been the backup since he came back. Thought he would get a game.

Nice chippy game going on here. Grand Rapids up 2-0. Monsters playing well, Griffins goalie playing better. Second goal came on the PP after Svozil called for holding while Knazko was boarded face first into the boards and left the game bleeding. Couple of fights already.

Monsters get a goal in the 2nd by McKown. 27 shots through 2, but just can't beat their goalie more than once. 2-1 going into the third.

INJURY REPORT: Cleveland LW Stefan Matteau has missed all 29 games this season with an ongoing upper-body injury while D Samuel Knazko, LW James Malatesta, RW Gavin Brindley, RW Trey Fix-Wolansky, and RW Jordan Dumais are all expected to miss Monday’s game with upper-body injuries.

Looks like tonight should be fun.

So wait, Dumais was activated and then he's back on the injury list? Was it just premature activation or did he hurt himself...

A couple of interesting guys out for sure, hope for a quick recovery for them all.

Real average height of those four forwards has got to be like 5'7 or 5'8.

He's not activated. He's still just getting in to game shape, it didn't sound like day-to-day even, more like week-to-week until he gets in shape.

3-1 Monsters with 15 minutes left in the game. Going on PP now. LDBB has 3 assists. Grimaldi a goal and assist.

Going with 17 players tonight because of injuries. 11 forwards 6 d-men.

Edit: Hunt scores on the PP to get it to 4-1.

Went to a Q & A after the game Saturday where Hunt was asked who his favorite player was as a kid. He answered Matt Calvert was because he is a 2nd cousin to his family.

What is LDBB doing to score so much? Can you give us more of a review?

And how does Hunt look? There were some Wild fans who thought he should have been in the NHL, does he look that good to you?

Does Calvert work anywhere around the league these days? He's a guy you wish was still around, but hasn't been close with the club since the unfortunate toilet seat incident.

Luca is playing a smart game. He's not a fast skater so he has to rely on being in the right place at the right time, which he has done well this year. Also doesn't hurt that he is finishing well.

His passing has been very good also. His pass to Grimaldi while he had a guy on him and his back to the play was a real nice play.

His lack of speed worries me if he gets to the next level as I am not sure how well his positional game will translate. If his mental game stays strong, I think he can make the transition. 3rd liner maybe?

Not sure what Calvert is doing. Nothing on his wikipedia page after his retirement.

Monsters pull out the win. Gain a couple points to tie Toronto for 2nd. Greaves with a 33 save game. Made some solid saves throughout. Nice job considering the injuries.

If I remember correctly, at the beginning of the game, Tony Brown said that while Dumais is on the roster, he isn't really close to playing.

Thanks for the intel on Luca.

Any thoughts about Daemon Hunt's readiness?

Calvert is an agent. I think Hunt is a client of the agency.

He is noticeably better than Jiricek was defensively, probably the same offensively. He seems a little more physical than Jiricek was, but his skating is much better. Ready for injury call up, but not sure if he is quite ready to stick in the NHL. I could see him bouncing up and down like Christainsen did at first, and then staying up. If the Jackets move a d-man or two, he may move up.

He might be our top guy now that Mateychuk is gone, and Bowey is close to 25 games on his PTO. AHL site has Bowey listed as inactive, so not sure what his status is as they called up a defenseman to play last night.

Thanks for the report. Admittedly I’ve not seen LDBB that many times, but one thing I’ve learned about players is that slower guys with high hockey IQ have a much better chance in the NHL than speedy guys with low low IQ (and bad hands).

Just noticed Bowey is in Switzerland on team Canada, so that's why he is out. Same injuries tonight for the Monsters at Grand Rapids.

So looks like a 5-1 loss for the Monsters against the Griffins. Beaten out by Jack Campbell.

LDBB with the lonely goal, he's got 17 on the season. Out of interest I did a bit of stat checking and TFW had the record last season with 26 goals. Year prior 29 goals, and Zac Dalpe probably holds the Monsters single season record with 33 in 2018/2019. Hopefully Luca stays healthy!

A few thoughts from seeing them in Milwaukee Monday night...

Didn't hit me that they were missing 5 regulars at least until halfway through the game. I knew Dumais wouldn't be there but kinda stunk not to see Brindley and Malatesta.

-Like @Monstershockey said LDBB just seems to make the right decision and use his body enough to control the puck or distribute it. Smart player.
-Hunt was solid. Good skater, physical, and had a nice shot to score his goal.
-Ceulemans looked a little more polished which is good since he was pretty raw coming from college. He got hit a lot but took it well.
-Svozil didn't stand out a ton, but was making smart plays and did try a couple moves offensively that he's known for.
-Bjorgvik-Holm looked decent but didn't do too much to stand out.
-Greaves was awesome. They got outshot by about 7 and made some big saves to keep them in front.

That's all I got for now, was a fun game to watch them win and see some of the talent in the organization.

I feel like CC has been progressing but very slowly. I am conceding he is possibly never going to be an NHL player but he does seem to be getting better...even just since the beginning of this season.
