^^ Wish that interview was longer, very interesting to hear how it all works on the Monsters side. Certainly sounds like they understand and accept their development/call-up nature very well despite not being owned by the Jackets.
Compared to the Chicago Wolves who have decided to go independent because they want to focus on winning games...not development.

Re: the length, keep in mind that Elaine is on multiple AHL beats on top of a day job.

Even so, her stuff remains consistently top notch.

Dont they lead the league in attendance? Doubt they move the team. Buffalo deal into Cleveland?
Not sure the Jackets gain anything and maybe lose...

That would have been pretty cool to have each ECHL/AHL/NHL team in the same state.

Is there any other affiliation’s that are similar? I know there’s some NHL-AHL connections, but, idk about ECHL.

I figured 1 of the teams out east and possibly a Canadian team. I guess I coulda easily looked at the list of ECHL teams and narrowed the list down and went from there….but thanks.

Definitely would have been cool to have all 3 in Ohio.

So then I started thinking about MI/Red Wings/GR Griffins. Kalamazoo has never been an affiliate with DET, which was surprising, realized Toledo was their ECHL team and realized the CBJ and DET could just swap ECHL teams and both have all 3 in 1 state.

I believe the Jacksonville Icemen don't have an affiliation right now. There are 28 teams so several are going to have to go without exclusive affiliations. Either way I am unconcerned, no NHL teams sends more than a couple of contracts down to the ECHL at any given time plus I suspect ECHL teams are always willing to take on a player or two from other organizations when needed.

JACKSONVILLE, FL – The Jacksonville Icemen will hold a press conference on July 17th at 10 a.m. at the Community First Igloo to announce the team’s new NHL and AHL affiliates.

“We want to thank the New York Rangers and Hartford Wolf Pack for their affiliation for the past two years,” said Icemen Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Nick Luukko. “We are looking forward to the depth of talent our new partners have in their system. Our goal is to continue to improve and bring the Kelly Cup to the best fans in the league. We are confident our new NHL and AHL partners will add talent to the Icemen that can move us forward."

Usually ECHL guys are just.bodies to fill out the roster. The Monsters have taken guys from multiple teams over the years. Kalamazoo mostly, but they have used guys from other teams. They had a couple guys from Idaho a few years back, Fort Wayne and so on. I don't think it is a big deal.

My biggest question is whether there is a financial component of having an ECHL affiliate and, if so, is this an expense the team doesn’t want at this time.

I was a little indifferent at first but they look good on the jerseys (not sure on the white but the main one at least is pretty cool). I like the color scheme on the main. It's a huge logo though!
