It does make you wonder if Green had any influence in the signing of Gaudette from their time together in Vancouver.
His last time playing for Green gave him best season in the NHL in Vancouver in 2019-20 with 33 points in 59 games, which is pretty decent.

Hard to really put a prediction on how this year goes for Gaudette but at this point, you have to think that a 20-goal season is possible.

He said yesterday he likely wouldn't have come back to Ottawa had it not been for Green being named coach.

Not that, but he did acknowledge Adam not really being a typical 4th liner and that rarely would you have a 4th line center with his hands and shot. Seems to like that benefit on the 4th line and singled them all out as playing well.

Goals aside, he looks like an NHL player to me. No reason he shouldn't stick around mid to long term.

I remember watching the Rocket play live on TV (Original 6 days).

I am not sure who Godette reminds me of but he certainly has a scorer's nose for the net and quick shot and to a little extent reminds me of some of the smaller shooters like Sakic, Robitaille and Bossy. But he is most likely not ever going to be like those 3 on a long-term basis.

He obviously has good hands and a great shot, but it's evident that he's worked on his skating, defensive positioning, and I've peeped him have himself some great backchecks and takeaways too.

Don't give him more than he can chew, he's perfect where he is now. If there's injuries we'll see what happens.

They should try it, Gaudette has the hot hand. I think he would do a lot better than Amadio or Greig have.

While Gaudette has been a great surprise, the fact that you're saying he has been the best acquisition in the off-season does not really say good things about Ullmark, Jensen, Perron, Amadio, Cousins & Gregor.

Obviously, it has been a very small sample size and Gaudette has been fantastic, so it makes it a bit of a tough comparison and there are some extenuating circumstances in the case of Perron, but I do think we need to (and we will) see more out of the rest of these guys. With the exception of Jensen, who has been a pleasant surprise for me, the rest of these players have been somewhat underwhelming.

I was not expecting lots of offence from the 4 forwards listed above but a combined 3 goals & 5 assists in a combined total of 41 games is no Beuno.

I know Ullmark will have some outstanding games and I think he will get on a few hot streaks.
Jensen provides solid steady play.
But so far....as I stated before, it's early... Gaudette has been the best surprise especially when you look at his salary and I have been posting this since Oct. 4 before the regular season games began.

I tend to agree that if you have a line or pair of Fs that work well together and score more goals than they allow, keep them together until they don't. Makes sense. But sometimes, you might have to make a change if the other lines are crap.

I think you could make the argument that he's been the Sens' best goal scorer.

Although he's tied for 2nd place with 7 goals (with 3 others) with Brady in 1st with 9,
his TOI/GP ( 10:39) is much lower than the others. For example Brady's TOI/GP is 18:30.

I think he's a late bloomer that had the discipline to finally put it together, and is now sitting on the precipice of his emergence as a 2nd-line player for the next five years.

This aint no Alex Chiasson or Dom Kubalik statline. The eye test backs up the numbers.

He's never had a big deal before. He's not so rich that he would bet on himself and shoot down a guaranteed $10M contract.

Let's give it to him. Lock him up for a 5-year/$10M deal right now.

Best case scenario we get the best middle-six contract in the league. Worst case scenario he's a $2M 4th line center for a few seasons then we buy out the rest.

I'd take that bet.

Lets see how Gregor-Gaudette-MacEwen works, the recipe is different than how the current one is constructed. While I don’t like the unnecessary penalties (work in progress), I like the “4th line” elements he brings that we have been missing. They are creating chaos with relentless forecheck, cousins is not really physical but keeps oppositions distracted. At minimum wage.

Yeah if Ostapchuk is ready next year (he is close/not fully ripe) then it’s a decision on which UFA forward (Gregor, Cousins) they have to let go. Both are good value for buck players at league minimum, Cousins has cup winning experience and is dickish. Gregor is faster and a better PKer. They both bring different elements, it’s a matter of how Green likes to deploy his lines once everyone is healthy (which has yet to happen this season).

I don't think MacEwen moves the needle when he's on the ice (hasn't been bad) and Cousins has taken some bonehead penalties + makes some bad decisions with the puck, not a fan.

MacEwen has consistently been really physical and is willing to drop the gloves, I have a hard time taking him out, particularly when the 4th line has been our most consistent all year.
