That would by far be the dumbest thing this franchise have done in over a decade if true.

If you can get Lafrenière, Kakko and Shestyorkin at a level where they hit their performance bonuses, you take it. That makes you a better team. It's that simple.
I mean, yeah, but there was an awful lot of f***ery going in with these kids. The shuttling back and forth to the taxi squad comes to mind as well. Their salaries were clearly an issue that was being actively managed.

The Rangers weren't the only team doing that.

Occam's razor. They played less because Quinn felt they weren't ready for more.

Yeah, that was a pretty shitty thing to do. It cost guys like Kakko and Miller a lot of money

I know it seems like we've had to endure Trouba for a century but I'm pretty sure that was this decade.:laugh::laugh:

Where are the “Quinn ruined the kids crowd”? Raise your virtual mitts.

Those who proclaim that Fox was a finished product when he arrived are spouting nonsense. They are ignorant, willfully so or not.
Quinn constructed the Ryan Lindgren-Fox pair. Both improved. Both thrived under increased responsibility. Pavel Buchnevich improved under Quinn. Mika Zibanejad had the best year of his career playing for Quinn. So did Panarin. So did Ryan Strome. K’Andre Miller made the all-rookie team playing for Quinn.
That is worth remembering.
David Quinn did not construct the Lindgren-Fox pair

Yeah. They played together back in 2014 already for the US NTDP. Where did Brooks get the notion Quinn "created" that pairing? LOL

This is obviously referring to the NHL and not what happened when they were 16 years old. Plenty of NHL players played together as kids. You do not go around saying the coach of a team of 11 year olds is responsible for creating say a...Stamkos/Tavares line if it were to ever occur in the NHL/Team Canada.

Even if that's true, it was Lindy Ruff, not David Quinn. Because Lindy Ruff was responsible for the defense right? ;)

This is just the start for Adam Fox: What makes the Rangers' Norris-winner so special, and what comes next

Even though Fox is an undersized defenseman who isn’t particularly physical, nor is he a leading shot blocker, he’s still able to shut down offense against. What makes him so dangerous offensively is also a strength defensively; he’s quick to react and make plays with his stick, and he anticipates what his opponents are going to do next.

This season, that came against top competition. Fox and his defensive partner, Ryan Lindgren, had one of the toughest workloads of any top defensive pair in the league. Despite that, he still had a 55 percent expected goals rate.

The timeline is the juiciest part:

It’s not often that a player wins a Norris Trophy and you can expect that level of play for the next six or seven seasons.

Fox will win more than Leetch. Not sure how I feel about that to be honest.

Records are made to be broken and legends are there to be challenged.

Fox has a long ways to go before being in consideration as having surpassed the best skater in NYR history.

If he does, or even comes close, no NY Ranger will ever wear #23 again.
