I’m busy today but can someone kindly do the research of how long it has been since a defenseman as young as Fox has been a finalist?

Also, when was the last time a second year blue liner was nominated?

Feel like Hedman or Karlsson might be the answers

Last year I agree, this year I think Fox was the clear MVP

58 points in 42 games would translate to the 2nd highest point total in franchise history in 82 games. For a franchise that’s been around almost a hundred years.

That being said, I’d give the MVP to Fox as well but Panarin definitely also stood out.

Well, Makar is a 2nd year player and is younger than Fox, so...

@GAGLine beat me to it ...

He’s going to win it. Nobody is going to care that he didnt make the playoffs in this crazy year with covid and teams only playing 1/4th of the league.

PK Subban in 2012-13 was a finalist and won it at age 23

The year before Karlsson won it age 21.

Travesty if he doesn't win it now. Hedman and Makar both had shotgun riders in Point/Stamkos and Mackinnon/Rantanen.

Fox had a adversely affected by COVID Mika and didn't have Panarin for half the year and out produced the other two while playing 25 minutes a night in all situations and being excellent in his own end.

The fix is in if he doesn't take it.

If you click on it, there's a lot more.

That thread tells you what you need to know about how they vote for the Norris. They get too caught up in points, so it helps Hedman who gets power play points but doesn't even play on his team's shut down pair, and hurts a guy like MacAvoy who isn't as productive on the power play.

Fox was better than both of them this season anyway but I think Hedman wins on reputation. I hope I'm wrong!

Here
Its a win win.

If he wins it our boy is a Norris Trophy winner in his second season. If he doesnt then it helps in contract negotiations. A little.

Congrats to Adam. Fantastic season.

Scary to think he can actually improve

Hedman will likely win it based on reputation and well he's also very good, but just like Bergeron will win the selke even if someone is as good or having a better year as long as either one is good it'll be theirs to lose.
I think if they win the cup Hedman is a lock. Playoffs are big in his favor. If not I say it’s between him and fox 60-40 but fox should win. He was solid for a longer stretch. Makar has a great year, Hedman and Fox were just better

I also think he loses because he doesn't wear a cool Dman number like a 77 like Hedman does. 23? Jordan? This pompous sophomore pro thinks he's Jordan?

But seriously, getting nominated is a win in itself. Gives him real legitimacy for future voting.
