Anyone remember Leetch as our captain here? Why on earth is Fox captain material? Give him an “A” like everyone else…but when we finally give the captaincy out, don’t burden him with it. We have other…and better choices to wear the “C”.

It is much different taking over the C from an iconic figure like Messier, than being the first actual captain the team has had in years.

Its not a steal, cause its the same as the other contracts around the league, but he is the best dman I have seen in years at both ends of the ice and in every situation. Fair contract for a great player. Takes him right to 30 when he could probably resign at a good deal.

None of these deals look bad in a vacuum. The problem is a bunch of average deals in vacuums is cumulatively bad. You’ve gotta get some positively good ones.

Not that this isn’t a fine deal but we hear the same thing every time we sign one of these guys: well this deal isn’t bad.
