2nd Period
9th shift, opening faceoff:
Very ill-advised pass under pressure from the d-zone corner. Instead of chipping backward for his defender, he backhanded it in front of the net and it was intercepted. Nothing came of the play, though Rogle took a penalty later in the shift.
Rogle PK, not his unit starting.
10th shift, on the fly, PK - 40 seconds left:
Rogle defender takes another penalty, Edstrom levels attacker to get the puck and force whistle.
5v3 against for 25 seconds. No Edstrom.
11th shift, off zone draw, PK - 1:00 left:
Looked good. Got his stick on a shot attempt from behind the attacker and the next time in that situation that attacker never tried to shoot, instead circling back toward the boards. Terrible PK setup though; allowed multiple A+ cross-ice one time chances. Whether it's due to execution as a unit or not, I don't know. Rogle killed penalty.
12th shift, on the fly:
Won a quick puck battle on the boards to keep the cycle going, then provided a screen in front. Play was stopped by a hook; Rogle going to PP.
13th shift, def zone draw, PP - 9 seconds left:
Got the puck on the zone entry and went wide on the left side. Got a half-step on the defender, but lost control of the puck when he tried cutting to the net. His teammate picked it up, and Edstrom eventually situated himself in front and deflected a point shot just wide. Then nearly deflected a high wrister from the opposite half-wall a few second later.
14th shift, otf while Rogle had off possession:
Outskated a tired defender to get the puck back to his point, then got his stick on a deflection while he was being knocked off balance. It either missed the net or the goalie got a piece. Entire shift wasn't 10 seconds long.
15th shift, on the fly:
Was a step behind a breakout pass from a teammate. He could have been more decisive on his line and it would have been a 3v2 rush, but again, he seems averse to putting himself in positions to handle the puck. In the off zone, went from standing still in the slot to splitting the defensemen to be open in tight, but linemate couldn't get pass through. Then, again got his stick on a point shot while being pushed off balance. Nobody can stop him from going to the net and staying there.
Rogle PK, Edstrom on 1st unit.
16th shift, def zone draw, PK:
Got caught a little too low a couple times, but is deceptively quick at covering that space and was able to cover up and stop any good chances from starting at the point.
17th shift, on the fly, PK - 13 seconds left:
Used long reach to break up a neutral zone pass and finish off the PK. Team gained entry and he immediately went to the front of the net, but the puck never arrived before the end of the period.
