Yeah, Grabovski would slot in relatively well in that scenario too...

Penner-Mojo(Grabo)-Ovechkin
Kuznetsov-Backstrom-Brouwer
Chimera-Fehr-Ward
Wellman?-Beagle-Wilson

If Laich were healthy could have 4 really solid lines with...

Penner-Grabovski-Ovechkin
Kuznetsov-Backstrom-Wilson
Laich-Johansson-Brouwer
Chimera-Fehr-Ward

No real 4th line.

Considering how frequently 90-83-8 has been used as a line over the past handful of games, I'm not sure why anyone is surprised.

Beagle with Ovechkin makes no damn sense, its never worked, whereas short mixed shifts with Wellman with Ovechkin have worked nicely.

Ovechkin needs goal scoring support more than Schneider does. Wellman scores goals with Ovechkin. No brainer. NOPE BEAGLE.

Just fire everyone, but amateur scouting.

#Caps announce Brooks Laich is out 4-to-6 weeks after a procedure to release a tight adductor muscle. That'd seem to end his regular season

Yeah, I really want to see Ovechkin with Wellman vs. ANA/LAK/SJ. Uh huh.

Wellman shouldn't even be up right now. He's Keith Aucoin at best. Lightning in a bottle isn't a strategy.

The shaft given to Schmidt & Latta is quite puzzling.

Oates has been line-juggling quite a bit in-game. I doubt these will last.

Chimera-Johansson-Ward
Fehr-Latta-Wilson
Laich permanent LTIR
Beagle scratch

I'd vote for Kulemin (for another year in a row) instead of Penner but what do I know

There are plenty of forwards capable of playing some hockey with a proper coach. Big if, yeah.

How can they not see that the D is the problem?! I don't understand. Carrick-Hillen-Erskine D/PK is mind boggling as you say it.

I would really like to see Wilson given a chance to play with skill guys. Put him in for 20, just for a game or two to see what he can really do.

It's been more than a year since he first injured his groin, and from what we have to go on, it looks like he's back where he started. I'm sure McPhee wouldn't buy out one of his guys, but if I'm a new GM coming in and I see a guy struggling with injuries and signed for 4.5M for 3 more years, I'd want to get rid of him.
He's beloved by the organization and it would set a horrid precedent for players considering singing long term with the Caps.

Yes it would.

Did the Nylander situation stop players from signing in Washington? Has any of the Flyers' **** appeared to cost them signings? Has there been a single instance of reporting that indicated this kind of thing was a factor in a free agent's decision? Separately, you really think that Laich's injury problems make his situation look that much different from any other CBO? Are UFAs going to avoid Toronto now because they bought out Grabovski?

There is a basic, fundamental logic accepted by players that your job depends on your performance. No organization functions outside of that. They aren't going to look at a team that bought out a player and see an exception. That's just how it is.

As was Lecavalier and to a lesser extent Briere and Grabovski but they weren't worth their contracts anymore so their teams bought them out. That's what CBOs are for. It's not like Brooks doesn't get the money he's owed.
