Klimovich turning into something, even at the AHL level, is a great story. Based on last year i thought he was cooked as a prospect. Collect a paycheck for another year and head back home. Whether he's now a legit nhl prospedt at this point i don't care, just happy to see him finding his way in Abby.

Best thing about this Abby Canucks team is that as of today, they're solidly in a playoff spot in the Pacific, with a batch of 20-21 year-olds carrying the mail.

Mueller, Klimovoch, Pettersson, Kudryavtsev and Lekkerimaki are the core of this team. A lot of the AHL veterans the signed in the off-season really aren't doing a thing. Hopefully they come out of their funk as the year progresses.

But any time you're winning and your youngest prospects are getting tons of ice time in all situations--well that's about as good as it gets in the AHL.

After the season he had last year, if he can even build up his value to be that of a guy who is added in as a small piece in a larger trade, I’d consider that a win.

Kind of a (far) lesser version of Anthony Beauvillier being sold to the fans and media as ‘…we got a former 1st round pick in the deal’ type of ‘asset’.

Now that Malhotra is in Abby coaching, my expectation is that everyone is rocking a better than .500 face off percentage...and that includes Pettersson, Kudryavtsev, Tolopilo etc.

EVERYONE!!! Lean into it and dig in Zamboni driver!!

During a delayed penalty call, Felton passed to a wide-open Bains but he hit the side of the net with the goalie out of position. Not much from Abbotsford on the PP. Askarov stopped a decent chance for Kambeitz just as the penalty expired.

Young beaten short-side over the shoulder as San Jose scores the opening goal eight minutes into the game. Pretty good shot.

@HairyKneel favorite Shakir Mukhamadullin with the primary assist ;)

Then he just about beat Ty Young with a wrist shot from distance, leaked through but went just wide. Young looking a tad shaky. Stevens with a nice pass to McWard but Askarov stopped him.
A bit of a goalie mismatch tonight as you mentioned.

Lucas Vanroboys with a real soft on the sieve-like Ty Young to close out the period at 2-0.

That's two first period goals for the fourth liner Vanroboys.

PBP guy Nick Nolanberger points out the bad goaltending at the Abby end of the ice.
That second goal was a quick shot from right in front of the net and he almost got it. But there were a couple of longer shots that he fought earlier which shouldn't have been troublesome. Hopefully he settles in a bit.

Lekkerimaki needs to start showing more in 5v5 play.

Jonny has seemed a little off since returning from Vancouver.

This current level isn't going to be satisfactory.

First Hirose, then Pettersson with errors leading to great chances. Young stopped the first one, not much chance on the second one. Team not looking good, being outplayed noticeably. They got away with it on Tuesday in Bakersfield thanks to Tolopilo and the PP.

Kudryavtsev is the best defenceman of this group.

Should I be worried for Brisebois, missing two games in a row, given his concussion problems last season? He was getting back into form in his most recent few games.

Chase Wouters and Anthony Vincent duke it out.

Still 3-0.
Vincent took a shot at Kudryavtsev after a whistle for no good reason. He seemed to be looking for trouble.
