Refs are well aware that Leaf players embarrassed them last night. Won’t be getting easy calls going forward
The puzling part was not the Leafs diving like the Sedins... The puzzling part was the refs calling soo many penalties which would have been borderline in the regular season let alone playoffs.

Sens embarrassed themselves. Overall they played decent 5 on 5, but they were probably the most undisciplined team I have ever seen. Batherson and Greig are especially stupid. Senators need to focus on disciplined play and definitely work on the PK/Faceoffs. They got buried on the PK and lost every draw, they win a faceoff and none of those PP goals happen.

The Senators looked like what they are, a young hungry inexperienced team. You could see their players were caught off guard with the hitting and intensity of the game, lots of small lazy plays and guys not bracing for impact.

Neither would.

Yes, Leafs are the clear favorites but they have choked year after year after year with this same core and not made changes. Why would this time be any different?

Marner might force management's hand on changes to the core, but I doubt any major changes are done there. Less money for JT, more for Mitch.

Though that too might depend on Shanahan's employment status.

Like the imaginary call on Stutzle’s hit against Tanev?

Lmao sure.
It is possible that the Leafs are finally getting the reffing they didn't have in previous years. They're a veteran team, without dirty players or rats (sans Domi), that don't whine and complain.

They have a well respected coach that doesn't lose his shit on the refs ever, unlike Keefe.

They have Tre instead of that nerd Dubas.

There's no Bunting.

Guys like OEL, Tanev, Carlo, McCabe on the backend that are respected around the league.

Honest forwards like Lorentz, Laughton, McMann, Tavares, Pacioretty if he comes back etc.

We could finally be reaping the rewards of half a dozen series of having calls go against us.

We'll see

It’s one thing for sens players to act like they’ve never been here before but fans too?

and gaudette wanted nothing to do with it
When was the last time anyone called Gaudette a fighter? I don’t think anyone would call that a fight for Gaudette either but that was a typical fight for Domi

Although, most of the penalties were legitimate ...

I will say, that Matthews call was a complete dive, after watching the replay, you could see he barely touched 34 and he went diving into boards as if he was going swimming.

He can't be doing stuff like that, early in the playoffs, if we go for a deep run, refs will be aware of stuff like that.

What do people not understand about the fact that its pretty easy to knock someone over when you push them from behind when they aren't expecting it. That's why it's a penalty.

The only way you see a dive there is if you wanted to see a dive.

Also, the irony. Matthews gets among the least help from the refs out of any star player.

Exactly. Enjoy the win and 1-0 series lead, but be humble.

Sens steal one in Toronto tomorrow and the whole series flips.

I see no reason for leaf fans to be humble about anything. We all know the ridicule we will face losing this series, being humble about it won’t make those chirps any softer if it happens.

We are all in no matter what, because we all know the years and years of ridicule we’ve endured through opposing fans.

We don’t have any reason to be humble. This is balls to the wall, 100% in 100% of the time until we win the cup.

I’m not interested in taking the high road with any team or their fans.

Let’s get dirty

He came in slowly when McMann was taken down and Kleven hit him in the face.

you learn pretty early in contact hockey that when you skate towards a player after the whistle, they are probably get their hands up to defend themselves. There’s one reason Domi skated that direction it’s to get a shot in on Kleven. Domi got popped wanted none of that and went for a player already engaged with another.

Celebrating Domi skating away from Kleven and getting an uppercut to the visor on a player who was engaged with another is deranged.
