Series Talk: [A1] Toronto Maple Leafs vs [WC1] Ottawa Senators | Part II (TOR lead 3-0)

Ottawa looked like a completely inexperienced playoff team in game 1 which shouldn't really come as a surprise.
It would be nice if this series was being called like the rest of them. Watching the Minnesota Vegas game directly after was hilarious. Two different sets of rules in 2 different games.

Ullmark stunk Stolarz was great that was the main difference. We will see how Ottawa reacts.

Marner might force management's hand on changes to the core, but I doubt any major changes are done there. Less money for JT, more for Mitch.

Though that too might depend on Shanahan's employment status.

There will have to be big changes if they lose this series. How can you go with the same core for the 10th straight year with only 1 series win? If they can't beat Ottawa, they won't beat anyone. It will be a waste of time and money.

you learn pretty early in contact hockey that when you skate towards a player after the whistle, they are probably get their hands up to defend themselves. There’s one reason Domi skated that direction it’s to get a shot in on Kleven. Domi got popped wanted none of that and went for a player already engaged with another.
You asked where he came from and I answered. Thanks for the lecture, though.

I hope Tkachuk stays true to the Sens game plan.

Him taking Laughton to the box on offsetting minors was great. The Sens figured out he's the secret weapon. They clearly didn't want Laughton scoring the OT winner. And their plan worked! He didn't! 😄

Seriously though, the Leafs just need to stick to Berube hockey. Play north-south. Be defensively responsible. Limit shots o from high danger areas. And capitalise on Sens mistakes.

The Leafs have been doing this since February with great success. Crazy win record since then. It worked for 3 months and worked again last night. And it will work again Tuesday.

Go Leafs Go!!!

Like the imaginary call on Stutzle’s hit against Tanev?
Or the one where Batherson out muscled Jarnkrok and got 2 minutes for being stronger. 45 minutes later we watch Minnesota and Vegas run each other through the boards and there are no calls. Matthews cant stand on his own two feet but he is 6'3 220. Holmberg cross checks greig in the head right in front of the ref no call.

Yeah the greig cross check and batherson cross check were obviously penalties but you gotta be consistent.

Toronto’s elite actually showed up.

The leafs also have a goalie now. They haven’t had one in decades

If there top players continue to show up and Stolarz plays the way he has… they will be tough to beat

I see no reason for leaf fans to be humble about anything. We all know the ridicule we will face losing this series, being humble about it won’t make those chirps any softer if it happens.

We are all in no matter what, because we all know the years and years of ridicule we’ve endured through opposing fans.

We don’t have any reason to be humble. This is balls to the wall, 100% in 100% of the time until we win the cup.

I’m not interested in taking the high road with any team or their fans.

Let’s get dirty

Celebrating Domi skating away from Kleven and getting an uppercut to the visor on a player who was engaged with another is deranged.
I mean, is that your flex after losing 6-2? That Domi got "popped and wanted none of that?"

Congrats, I guess.

It's easier to out muscle a player when you use your leg behind the other players leg to wipe him out with a hit. Trust me I've used this move many times in hockey and have been called for tripping on the play some of the times. Batherson knew exactly what he was doing and got caught....

What do people not understand about the fact that its pretty easy to knock someone over when you push them from behind when they aren't expecting it. That's why it's a penalty.

The only way you see a dive there is if you wanted to see a dive.

Also, the irony. Matthews gets among the least help from the refs out of any star player.
Matthews got straight up and maintained possession. He didn't even look at the refs. He wasn't trying to get a call.

I feel like the league should review this.

I think they should too, this was bad. Definitely suspension worthy going by history of these kinds of incidents.

I could see an argument the other way if Matthews didn’t get suspended for the dahlin cross check or Reilly didn’t get suspended for the greig croscheck. Shit, even Kadri’s cross check got a suspension.

Why is this cross check not suspension worthy?
