Overall I agree. That's more an indictment on other announcers than a compliment to her, though. She's got a very soothing voice. I think she'd do wonders in golf, but is a poor choice for hockey.

It's a unique choice outside the status quo, yet there are wheels within wheels, and the end result is that she's still better than some announcers - that's killing 2 birds w/ 1 stone from the perspective of the suits.

No, she gets criticism because she is objectively awful at it. It has nothing to do with being a woman. She's also on national broadcasts vs. regional which is why she also gets a lot more criticism/feedback than most bad announcers.

I don't think she's good, but we don't have 25 pages of people shit-talking any other announcer, and there are definitely worse announcers. She isn't good. But the female thing plays a part.. let's not be naive.

When I watch the Pens, I watch the away feeds.... lots of trash out there. Lots.

Yes, and a lot of us, including myself watch away feeds as well. Nobody is close to as bad as her. Nothing to do with her being a female.

The reason there is 25 pages is that she is on national broadcasts and she is that bad.

Seriously though, my cousin was involved in our local WNBA team for a few years so I'd watch a few games out of the season just so she and I would have something to talk about. The women commentators were pretty solid. They were very knowledgeable and kept up with the pace of the game. That seems to be hextall's problem. She regularly gets players names wrong, says the wrong names of teams. Worst of all aside from her voice and high pitched screeches when someone scores, she seems to get flustered and can't keep up with the pace of the game which results in the dead air. She sounds lost. Like she just stumbled in off the street and sat at the mic. Lmao. Has nothing to do with her being a woman. She sucks at her job. Shes just flat out f***ing terrible and was only given the job because espn/disney wants to meet their inclusivity quotas.

As for the "there are men who are worse" argument. So f***ing what? That may be true but none of them make me want to rip my f***ing ears off.
