the woman argument is piss poor. im sick of that nonsense. we judge you based on how well you do.
She's brutal.
IMO Botterill isnt very good, either. Awkard.
Cassie Campbell-pascal, i thought, always gave good insight. solid work on HNIC/CBC.SN.

it has nothing to do with being a woman, man, dog, cat. whatever it is now a days.

Do you have pace? do you have a voice for PBP? do you bring something to the table thats unique, because lets face it, its a job that requires you to be unique. Do you come prepared? because there's many games last year with the wings and others where her stats were inaccurate or just bland (like no shit, my 6mo old knows that).

ESPN when they do their "yearly reviews" thinks this is legitimately good for hockey? yep, good work. probably why ESPN is and was a joke for years.

Botterill is great in my opinion. Leave her out of it.

23 pages of moaning over something inconsequential.
What on these boards is consequential?

We’re talking about a game, it’s all fun or no fun, prefer or not prefer and arguing over minutia to a microscopic level lol.

Play by play is part of the package. Some pretty good/intense games have had some bad/bland calls over the last year +

People literally make YouTube compilations of great goal calls. It’s a part of the game people care about.

What was that playoff goal, I think OT, where she was super delayed noticing, sorta like the shootout from the other night? I couldn’t find it

There’s nothing wrong with moaning on here, but this thread is 3 weeks old and 24 pages long. It’s obsession for some here.

It’s early season and every thread is summed up as “small sample size” still lol

It’s more or less a pbp gdt now. It’s been off the front page a few times, then she gets a game and there’s new highlights

Who knows? Sympathy play, maybe? I hate to be cynical, but until I see evidence of an actual death threat, or even just a police report, Im calling bullshit.

Lol you're saying she's lying???? I don't know why I'm surprised this is HF Boards.

Why do you believe her with no evidence? If someone threatened your life over email, would you delete it or forward it to the police? Its literally smoking gun evidence and she decides to delete it? Yeah right.

You would have to be awfully naive to believe thiat shit.

Almost every male working in hockey is hired because they're within the bubble of hockey and that's just normal.

She does suck at commentary and it's fine to say that, but it's only with Leah Hextall that people wanna fight nepotism, it seems like.

Again, she sucks, but so do the studio shows where Bissonnette, Messier, and Chelios give me CTE by proxy.
But they do suck. And they're there because they played and because of who they know.

Coaches and GM's too. That's something that's rampant in the sport in general.

So when somebody says "I supported giving her a chance" that doesn't automatically contradict what they're saying. That's the norm in hockey.
Yeah - I don't like Biz, and I haven't seen much of Messier and Chelios to make a decision yet. But to make it clear, I support giving people the chance provided the network uses some reasonable criteria to determine qualifications. I didn't have a hold of her resume and assumed there was a modicum of experience for people being hired for these front-facing roles.

I'm not even advocating about nepotism. I'm just saying I was okay with the network making macaroni and cheese, but the stovetop is now on fire, and they're trying to put out the fire with a can of grease.

confused, why was my reply from earlier deleted without any explanation? i was just comparing the response on this exact forum, between different broadcasters. i've had replies deleted before, but not without a reason attached

Wasn’t she supposed to not call games anymore?
I thought I read that. Also saw her doing the the reporting/hosting for one game and thought that’s what was happening. Then she came on as the play by play for a game the other night and I was utterly confused and sad.

Fans saw her between the glass and just assumed that was every game

I think she gets fewer games but I’m not sure. She still calls tho

Hearing Leah and Cassie in this Chi v Min game, and as much as folks like to diss her, I think her voice is more likeable than 25% of announcers. There are a number of play-by-play announcers that have a less enjoyable voice.

Overall I agree. That's more an indictment on other announcers than a compliment to her, though. She's got a very soothing voice. I think she'd do wonders in golf, but is a poor choice for hockey.

Does being more likeable than 25% of your colleagues get you that highly sought after participation trophy?

Did I just hear her call the Blackhawks the "Black Wolves"?

WTF? Enough is enough ESPN. She needs to go. Literally every single criticism of her is valid and fair.

It's not that we are against women. At All. We are against know-nothing-twits who know nothing about the game and proceed to do worse game after game.
