A new contender for worst broadcaster of all time (Leah Hextall)

She's so bad it was taking attention away from how bad the game ops are for the yotes.

Her segment just now on ricky b was... Painful
 
Man, I stopped by to see who the first would be to pounce on Buccigross and Boucher throwing it down to Hextall, who admitted that she hadn't heard what they had asked her because she was in the tunnel.

EDIT: BB94 snuck in at the last minute. :P

Fun atmosphere at Mullett Arena tonight.

I looked here too to see if anyone else commented but I couldn't help myself. WTF is she doing down in the tunnel when they are cutting to her? And why admit you didn't hear them? These segments are all planning features, she knows what was coming.

Notice this hasn’t been talked about in a few days. Watching the San Jose Anaheim game right now.

Leah: garbage. Crappy play by play voice. Says things like « Meier at the red », « Karlsson at the blue ». WHAT BLUE LINE? Omg.

Cassie Campbell doing the colour: she is impeccable and has a good voice.

I’m just not crazy about the quiet, small/high pitched mellow voice calling the play. That will come down to preference, but I put her in the group (yes, multiple guys) I call “golf” or “baseball” commentators.


Most commentators add little but take nothing from the energy of a game. The great ones add some energy and can make it feel more intense/fun. Some pbp people are too mellow and or impersonal for me and can make a game feel even more boring than it is. Unless she’s calling particularly high event game, she almost puts me to sleep with how casual she sounds at times.

It’s just awkward at times. She’s mellow and she has a quiet voice on top of it which is something not many of the baseball guys have. And honestly her voice his high enough that yelling a lot more might annoy some people.



Who’s she calling with tonight? She said Cassie earlier, I assume Cassie Campbell? She’s not a booming voice but she sounds louder and her voice is a bit deeper and she was yelling some before I tuned out; imo she’s someone who could be a better PBP option. Or if Hextall can add some more energy more consistently

Has Campbell ever done PBP or only an analyst? Idk what’s bad about her as an analyst

Didn’t they audition or test her out guest to hear what it would sound like ??

How the F do you go from calling ZERO pbp experience to calling games for the best hockey league in the world ? It’s insane that it happened .
If they hired a make with zero experience and was as terrible as she is , they would be let go and you’d have to question who hired that person what the hell were they thinking ?

She has a little girl voice. There's plenty of guys with a little boy voice. They don't tend to call hockey games for a living.

The only guy I can think of is that guy Dom, who’s usually an analyst with Hextall as his match for PBP lol
