She doesn't bother me. I mean she isn't good.

But when the likes of Jack Edwards, Bret Hedican, Tyson Nash, etc. are still broadcasting.
They’re pretty easily avoidable though as they’re local and nobody watches Arizona. When they get hired by ESPN or TNT I’ll complain about them more

That is a fair point. I just find her awkward. She is trying to show personality and develop a back and forth with her colleagues, but there's just no commentary.

Pierre wasn’t bad IMO. He came off as that socially awkward guy, and people like to pick on that guy, but he knew a bunch and brought tons of enthusiasm to every analysis

He rubbed me the wrong way. His commentary was nails on a chalkboard to me at times. If he isn't making it about himself, he rambles on for hours about which junior team player X came from, and what he had for breakfast last night...

For example, on this one, he missed a great opportunity to remain silent.

i feel like all of them talk about random stuff or are just personally talking to each other a lot of the time, filling time. Unless a play literally just happened, which he was good at covering, he’s supposed to talk. I assume he was attempting to humanize the players more as well as just trivia. Maybe a die hard fan of some college team might appreciate hearing their guy referred to like that, idk

I just can't understand what it is she actually said after Getzlaf.

"ShakfkoejdbakwoekSCORES!"
Does he shoot? Yes he does and he scores.

Edit wow this thread is long. Someone probably answered that ages ago

Tavares magical play! One of the all time bad calls. You know it's bad when someone edits out the Pierre commentary.

It’s a few people who take it as far as OP and start a new thread weekly or hate her as a rinkside reporter (I don’t hate her there), but it’s more than a few people who find her annoying as shit a PBP. It’s a pretty strong negative response compared to basically almost all other commentators including other women in hockey.

To OP, I mean, she’s harmless enough as the reporter. Honestly I think she should be at the desk with or replacing Messier or Chelios. She seems personable enough and that desk needs something different.

As for the “somehow” there’s gonna be a super loud minority of people who take up arms if ESPN fired or removed her after one season. Or 5. She’s here to stay at least until a few other women get hired, but espn really just cares about your name rather than the quality you bring.
Agreed, she is personable and would be perfect for the desk. Messier is so hard to watch, anybody could be better. Anybody.

People overuse the “out of touch old white guys” thing too much more broadly in society, but holy shit ESPN went all in on three old out of touch stiff boring white guys as their primary talent. I was hoping Subban would join sooner than later. I see Weekes might be in more often

TNT did it right with a bigger broader panel with entertaining people

This crap just continues I see. She's doing absolutely fine. Just enjoy the hockey.
The puck landed in between the benches where she was standing, she said that it would have been delay of game had it not touched the glass next to her. Brian had to correct her that the puck actually had to go OVER the glass in order to be a penalty.

She’s awful i can’t believe they invited her back but I hate Craig Simpson et al too and they are still there,

Terrible PBP announcer for men's hockey. She shouldn't be taking jobs away from guys like the one that called tonights game on ESPN. He's got a good voice for NHL pbp.

Now, if she's like a rink side reporter. No issues with that.

Mess and Chelios have cache because they are 2 legends of the game, but yeah they are boring on TV.

Yeah she is absolutely awful and really does make the experience worse. That said, at least she's not doing PBP this year(I hope anyway), between the glass is a lot easier to listen to.

It was so annoying this summer when the story came about sexist hate and all that stuff. Like I get it, some shitheads clearly crossed a line with personal threats and sexist stuff, but the reality is she just isn't very good at her job. Nothing to do with being a women for 99% of people that dislike her, she's simply bad at her job and doesn't understand the game of hockey. Case in point of her not even knowing what a delay of game penalty is tonight. Plenty of Male commentators get plenty of hate as well for being awful. Jack Edwards gets plenty of hate, Pierre McGuire is apparently quite disliked.

To be honest, neither could I.
Don’t they prep before games though? She’s professionally supposed to know at least enough to talk all game and make almost perfect sense

I’m sure there’s definitely sexist hate going her way. Both can be true.

and she will call games. She has one this week. They mostly seem to put her on rebuilding and or small market (especially west) teams. It will be like the latter half of last year though, she won’t get as many pbp starts as she did early on.
