If we have to go down the "Levelling" up route by adding females then please have those that can actually do a decent job. Hextall along with Campbell-Pascall are absolutely terrible along with the other wooden one who does studio analysis Jennifer Boterill. I actually like A.J. Mleczko she comes across well and performs a good job. TV companies seem to have this mistaken impression that if someone played the sport it automatically means they will be good at commentary/colour and for proof that doesn't hold true look no further than the great one!!

I tried giving her a chance, I really did... But she's f***ing awful.

All the female talent out there and ESPN's two headliners are Leah Hextall, who sounds like she's reading a romantic novel for an audiobook recording, and Emily "Alien Hands" Kaplan.

I give her tremendous respect for helping pave the way for future women, but good lord she is so bad.

There was a Devils game earlier in the year she just completely missed calling a goal.

She also called Tatar Tomas Nosek for for first two periods of a game.

She was brutal when she was with the Jets too. Guess she hasn’t improved.

Our current TSN correspondent, Sara Orlesky, is possibly worse. She can’t speak. She fumbles over words like Don Cherry would. It’s bad.

This.

No one is pointing out the fact Weekes is just as bad/cringe as Leah Hextall.

We don’t need this duo.

It’s not even about her play by play which is pretty bad in itself , you then just ignore it after awhile. The issue is you add Weekes to the mix, and it makes it 1000x worse. Tonight he called a penalty saying the Ducks had too many men on the ice. Arizona had 8 players on the ice, lol.

Ducks laid an egg tonight, no pun intended, but listening to this broadcast on top of a bad loss, it sends you over the edge, lol.

Don’t get me wrong some of the ESPN+ broadcasts have been very good. Even the TNT broadcast the other night was excellent. This duo is just the worst and ESPN needs to change it up.

Reactions: PG Canuck
Troy Terry "blew a boot" tonight according to Leah Hextall as he fell crossing the blue line in the third. A play on 'blowing a tire' I presume?

Not hard to tell what side of the political spectrum one falls on based on their outrage towards someone's opinion. God forbid you let someone dislike a broadcaster who happens to be a woman without labeling them a chauvinistic sexist.

I am as progressive (liberal) as one can be and I can't stand her. Has zero to do with her being a woman. Stop trying to find some sort of divider, it's tiresome and says as much about you as it does about those you want to criticize for being from "one side of the political aisle".

Rewatching the condensed highlights i think most of the game was fine but in more stressful situations of the game she was really not good. Also the goal call in OT was really bad.

She sounds like that guy NHL Radio on SiriusXM uses for Red wings calls. Sounds like a mouse getting stepped on.

She's definitely getting a bit more comfortable but she's got a long way to go. Not a fan, at all..
