LTIR him for the season.

Boom we get an awesome 3C in the playoffs.

It is gross negligence if you are a GM and not using the LTIR loophole to "play within the rules" (legally cheat)
Are you starting one of these on every team board after that atrocity on the main board

It's stupid, but at least half the posters here could stop crying about Tampa/Vegas doing it.

Tavares is not getting any younger. You need to consider he might be useless in playoffs after sitting a year.

111 points won VGK its division and conference, whereas that same total garnered Toronto a distant 2nd place in the Atlantic and a finish lower than that in the East. This is a case of different teams having to go through different paths in order to succeed.

Vegas had guys who were actually, legitimately injured - they stayed on LTIR during the playoffs, and their playoff roster (guys who actually played) was never over the cap. They might have delayed Stone's return for cap reasons, but were still cap compliant with the guys who played in the playoffs, pretty different from the Tampa situation. And I doubt they delayed his return much - he had a legit back injury, had surgery for it in February, him coming back mid April is about right. His back also seemed to be flaring up and bugging him throughout the playoffs.

I do think Tampa cheated - Kucherov did get injured, but it really seems like he was healthy well before he came back, they delayed his return until playoff start to circumvent the cap, and their playoff roster was WAY over the cap. But even there, Kucherov was actually injured for most of the time he was out - a player might accept "come back from your injury a few weeks after you're healthy", they aren't gonna accept "skip an entire season of your career, when you're healthy." Has literally never been done, and won't happen.

Florida steamrolled the Leafs, Vegas steamrolled Florida, Leaf’s would’ve been out in 3 if it were possible

not sure what is crazier, thinking a PPG C is a 3C or thinking you can just LTIR someone for fun.

If someone got injured and we can time it for game 1, I hope we do but we can't just do it because we want to.

I know it's tough for many people to accept, but John Tavares is going to be a Maple Leaf until his contract expires.

So coming up with all these wild trade proposals, or how to get him to waive his NMC, or LTIRing him may be therapeutic but they're pipe dreams. Just learn to live with it.

Sure.

My suggestion was about Tavares being more important for Toronto's regular season aspirations in comparison to Stone's role in that regard for VGK. I'd surmise that Vegas had the deeper team while mostly playing against the conference which wasn't quite as competitive.

Are you planning on hiring thugs to go lay a beating on him prior to the season? Otherwise, your suggestion is not possible.

If we could learn to start diving properly, circumventing the cap and punching players in the head for fun then I feel we could really go the distance

It's always super suspect when someone starts a whacky thread and then never returns to discuss the responses.

Well yeah… but only if he has some chronic thing that might get fixed by an operation and long term IR. Vegas and Tampa obviously exploited things but their player did have actual issues that they managed to stretch out for as long as possible.

Not sure which is crazier, thinking he would be awesome at 3C or thinking you can just LTIR someone for fun.
