Seems like power forward / tough guys are a dying breed . A J seems to have it all , speed galore and an excellent athlete . Who are the other young power forwards out there ?

His athletic traits are off the charts and he could have played D1 Football, which is very impressive as a draft pick in a sport where players tend to be ultra-specialized from a young age. As is though, he is a 3rd round pick who will be going back to Juniors, so let's ease up on the hype bandwagon for now.

Spellacy is a very good athlete, a very strong skater and very physical. I would not be surprised if he becomes one of the good 4th liners in the league, but I don't think he will become a first liner, not even a Top-6 guy. I was very high on him (30th OA) due to his very high floor and athleticism, but I think his offensive ceiling is very limited.

Liam Foudy was a hell of an athlete as well, but it takes more than that to succeed at the NHL level. I think Spellacy's development will be fun to watch but I'd pump the brakes for now.

I think being the next Rempe would be a better target. Tom Wilson type scoring is a long way from where Spellacy's puck game is.

Well If you look purely at stats before they were drafted Spellacy seems to have the advantage there . A J doesn't really have the experience either so many are saying the sky is the limit with such a raw product . Time will tell .

Pretty identical per game scoring in their draft year. But 99.9% of guys who score at Wilson's pre-draft rate don't become wilson type nhl scorers.

Well 5 more Goals in 5 more games for A J in draft year . Faster than Wilson and a better athlete . Tougher , maybe not with fists but that remains to be seen .

He’s not gonna be Tom Wilson but I think his ceiling is a really good 3rd liner with great speed and size.

Really liked his game last night and in the prospect tournament.

But yeah the Tom Wilson stuff is just who he models his game after, I don’t think he has that kind of offensive ability.

once he moved to Center last year the production went up the last 10 games. 11 pts in his final 10 games. looked good in the prospect camp and has been a standout at the Blackhawks camp so far. So I know 3rds only have a 10% chance to play 100 games but he has looked the part in his draft year against NHL players so I think he will look be one of the 3rd round steals. I do agree that at the draft I thought 4th line center ceiling, now I think 3rd line center ceiling. he has played very little hockey to be as good as he is. So to say he does not have a OFF celing might be premature. He was D-1 football recruit being recruited by ohio state.
