The benefit of taking a player like Danielson/Kasper, is that their floors are high because they are not a Shane Wright-style prospect: their value is greater than their ability to score. We drafted high character, high IQ, tenacious two way centers who “play the right way”. Even if he doesn’t generate a single point himself, he does so many other things right he’s able to stay relevant and competitive, and bring value to the team.

I am not as familiar or as invested in Danielson as I was with Kasper but my understanding is Danielson is pretty similar in comp if not a bit more offensively gifted and a bit more face forward to the net generator and facilitator. What stands out again is his compete, IQ, and defensive commitment.

They guy is will be fine if he brings that attitude and his size and skating to bear. THAT always translates and when he figures out his offensive game, his lines, what he needs to do, that’s when he decides if he’s a 2C or a 3C. Be patient with him as well and stop overreacting. There’s value in a Jordan Staal 3C as much as their is in a Larkin 2.0

This has been discussed quite a bit, and it’s very common for the AHL affiliate to run a similar or the same system as the NHL team. They often do this because it makes it easier for call ups to transition.

I legit don't think teams force an already in place coach to switch his systems to adjust to a new NHL coach, that makes zero sense, and literally means Watson should have been replaced with a Todd like system. Maybe they hire a similar system coach if they are changing coaches, but they aren't going to any coach and saying time for you to change your system mid season because we have a new parent team coach. There would literally be no point in hiring new AHL coaches, if they just want an identical NHL system, they would just send any Wing assistant down there to be the new coach.

It is crazy to me that people question Danielson's upside. He might not get there but he has a sky high ceiling.

I guess some people hear "two way player" and assume it means low upside.
I will be very happy if he becomes something like Filppula.
It was big mistake not to extend him

Just imo but I think Danielson is being wildly underrated. He has all the tools and the toolbox to make it work. He's just not the kind of person to push the play in relation to the current quality of competition. That could be a confidence thing that could come with time or he's just someone similar to Raymond where many people doubted his abilities because of stats watching but watching them play you can see their abilities and the maturity in their game that gives them a lot of upside in addition to the pro level understanding of the game they already have.

I still see a guy who plays a more traditional playmaking center role. I think he has a decent shot but like with a lot of playmakers it takes time and coaching pressure before they will use it. Assist guys need skilled wingers to really produce a bunch of points and right now GR is lacking. Ammo is out, Mazur just got back, and Soderblom got called up. Our AHL vets lean more grinder/ dirty goal types than skill (minus maybe Dries). He also isn't ever going to cheat for offense. Gaining some confidence offensively will be huge for him, much like it has been for Kasper this year.

He is at the same point pace as Kasper last year. Not all players develop at the same pace. I still see a lot to like with him as a player, and I would not be surprised if he ends up with the Wings for a good majority of next year.

One half season in a pro league, and some are already ready to sell him off. His point production isn't all that bad either, just a low goal count.

You get Tyler Seguin for Loui Erkisson trades doing that stuff. Let it play out a little longer fellas.

It’s crazy to you that people are questioning a 20 year old top 10 pick in the AHL, one of the oldest in the draft class, who is putting up sub 0.5PPG numbers while playing top minutes including Pp time? And being out produced big time by many players taken after him, including the one right after?

Again, not saying he’s a bust or any of the sort. But I am legitimately baffled at some of the takes on here. It’s the least crazy thing to be questioning Danielsons development. The same people here were calling Dvorsky a bust when he put up 0 pts in the SHL in his D+1…

Well, technically he's just above a half PPG right now, and yes, I do think some of this is overstated. GR can't score on the PP and this last stretch is barely scoring at all. I'd like to see him producing more ... well, scoring more, absolutely. But it is completely factual that GR is not a high powered team offensively. And it's also completely factual that he's basically replicating Kasper's 2023-2024.

I think the people who watch Danielson and the people who value centers, tend to like him. People who don't watch him tend not to share this enthusiasm. People are also always anxious to slap a sell-by date on prospects so that they can quickly plant a flag and declare victory for the horse or horses they were backing on draft day. You will recall Kasper received a lot of bearish sentiment this time last year in much the same manner.
