Shifting gears from Sanderson's eventual doom for a second. Does anyone think Kreider earned a spot for Thursday? I thought he played well overall. His type of frame is perfect vs Canada. I haven't been impressed with Trocheck and would be open to Larkin as 4C and Kreider in for Trocheck....thoughts??

I'd be fine with Kreider staying in the lineup. Trocheck has been underwhelming but he'll stay in due to his position and face offs. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kreider take Connor's place just because the team identity, especially against Canada, is to play heavy.

Tough to say. He was playing in a spot that he won't be with the Tkachuks back.

Canadian parents so his call. He isn't the first and won't be the last to play for a different country than where he was born. You guys got Hull so the least you can do is give us Harley - I'll call that a win for the US :)
And the offspring of Geoff Sanderson and the pride of Calgary, AB Jake Sanderson plays for the USA. Tit for Tat.

...Can whoever is going to "take care" of Sanderson do the same with Binnington??...

Yeah Connor on the 4th line just doesn't really fit. But you can't sit the chance he can snipe one home imo.

Trocheck hasn't been a fav of mine for years, never hid that. I just don't know about him and his play overall has been meh...so have others obviously. Just would like to see Kreider in against the Canucks, he is suited for that type of game. Nelson wore the A yesterday so doubtful he would sit for him...

Point still stands.

You don't have one.

The rule since the tournament started was:

Original 4 Nations Face-Off roster rules set a cut-off for injury replacements at 5 p.m. on Monday before the tournament began. Only once a team dropped below the threshold of minimum players could an emergency replacement be added to the roster, though that rule was not written as position specific.

The rule does not state that a team, when dropping below the roster size threshold, has to add a replacement before the game. The NHL is changing the rules on the fly, not to benefit one team or the other, but because they're incompetent and didn't let the teams have the 2 extra skater roster spots they all wanted.

The reality is Canada has one more player on their roster than the US. The US has to lose multiple defenseman for multiple games in order to get one replacement, whereas Canada only needed to lose multiple defenseman for 1 game to get to expand their roster size. That's why the rules are inconsistent.

Hit 1500 posts on the og..figured we roll a new thread...

Please continue on the many ways Jake Sanderson will get taken out by Thursday..

...so your issue is that Canada got a depleted roster before the U.S. did and had time to bring in Harley??...so you have a problem with timing, not the "rule" being inconsistent...

The U.S. should be able to add Quinn but not let him play unless one of the other 6 get hurt. Then I hope the team has enough integrity not to fake an injury.

Timing, when not written into the rule, being applied differently is the definition of being inconsistent.

I had no issues with Harley joining Team Canada.

...it's NOT being applied differently, though, and this is the fallacy of your position on it...your upset cuz Canada lost Makar & Theodore before America lost anyone...the entire crutch of your position is based on the timing of injuries and nothing else...

Then the US team should have brought in a player (after knowing Charlie couldn't play yesterday) to possibly replace a second player getting injured. Isn't that what Canada got permission to do?

No, it's inconsistent because Canada is allowed a bigger roster than anyone else.

One thing about Kreider is that he's played just about every role in NY and that can be important in a war of attrition game. You won't find another net front on the PP if one of the Tkachuks is out or can't continue in a game, that is as good as Kreider is. Could also give a different look on the PP with him in front if they are stale.

The 4th line as it began was all centers. Nelson, Larkin, or Trocheck can be a C, so it's not like they'd need to fill a top 9 C spot with a winger or double shift. Same goes for Hughes being on the wing. Since he can PK, you also wouldn't need to add someone that hasn't been in the tourney.
