All I'm saying is that if they changed the rules, it would set the precedent that anything is acceptable while you're falling down. Obviously, it doesn't apply to Sekera as it wasn't malicious, but generally speaking...

So you're basically saying if you cross check someone and they fall down and cause you to fall as well, you both deserve 2min, you for cross check and them for tripping?

Because Thornton caused the entire thing? If he doesn't want a stick in his face, he shouldn't trip someone from behind illegally.

In THIS case, I agree with you. All I'm saying is that the rules are there to protect the players because you know, somebody somewhere... will take advantage of getting tripped and smacking someone on the face.

Unlucky goal for team Europe. So many broken sticks lead to goal opportunities at this tournament.

What? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You see missed calls all the time. Does that then send precedent that you can do the same thing and never get called? Of course not. It's case-by-case. Refs(hopefully) have brains.

Except for the fact you're leaving out the fact Thortnon tripped him which was the cause of the high stick. If you fall on your own and clip someone in the fact obviously it's a penalty but you know this wasn't the case.

See my post above. I already said I agree with people on this case. I am talking about why this rule exists.

High sticking call was ridiculous. I can't see how anyone would be responsible for their stick after being tripped from behind. I would have been so upset if this call was against my team.
