I mean, yes it's annoying that Thornton's trip caused Sekera to high stick, but in the end, you can't let that go. Players would start waving stick wildly otherwise.

ofc they can. He highsticked him because Thornton tripped him. Horrible call, nothing else to say really

I don't get why they sort that out to a powerplay right away, should rather it just be 4 on 4 for 2 then a pp for 2.

Thorton tripping him doesn't excuse Sekera from throwing his stick up

Why are people upset? If they let that go, that would mean you could do ANYTHING while you were getting tripped. You can't. That's similar to how you will still get a penalty if you did something between the time a goal was scored (but refs didn't notice) and play was stopped.

Imagine your favorite player trips a goon, and that goon while falling down slams your player's face with the stick... that would have to be called, no? I'm not even arguing because of this game... I'm actually very confused why people think that's acceptable.

Exactly, they ALWAYS call high sticks if the refs sees it, no matter what.

You got to control your stick, as per the rules.

high stick is a high stick, even when accidental

they've always called this

This is such a dumb way to look at things. Hey guys just drop your stick if you ever feel like you're about to get tripped because something something something.

[MOD]

What is Sekera hits Crosby from behind into the boards and Crosby skate lace comes undone and trips Sekera.

2 minutes on Crosby?

Because Thornton caused the entire thing? If he doesn't want a stick in his face, he shouldn't trip someone from behind illegally.

They are right about Chara. No training camp at 39 and you play 2 exhibition games against the fastest team maybe ever assembled. Since then he has been solid, steady and a leader. Same as Hossa, guys needed some time to get used to each other and the speed

All I'm saying is that if they changed the rules, it would set the precedent that anything is acceptable while you're falling down. Obviously, it doesn't apply to Sekera as it wasn't malicious, but generally speaking...
