Huh? I didn't bring up stats, I'm talking about what's occurring on the ice. Save yourself the embarrassment if you aren't going to pay any attention to what's occurring in this game.

Every Kings fan in here has used Quick's cup as the reason he is more deserving of starting. Embarrassing is using a team stat from two years to justify starting a short tournament today.

Everyone else has been watching since. The second goal tonight was the back breaker and that's all on Quick's piss poor rebound into traffic.

How is Bishop better than the reigning Vezina winner again

I personally thought Holtby got that Vezina because of his won totals, nothing more. Bishop had a better SV% on a much worse team. Bishop once again went to the Conference Finals (playing big games, shutting it down on his end when it absolutely matters most), Holtby failed to make it out of the second round (again).

I think Holtby is excellent, but if he wasn't on the best regular season team post lockout, he wouldn't have won the Vezina, but been a finalist. I have a feeling Price, Bishop, Schneider, Lundqvist, Quick etc, could have won 45+ with the Capitals team put together in front of them too.

Holtby is a great goaltender, but I'm not sure if I agree he was the best this year. But this is off topic now.

Canada has the best goaltending, and best forwards in tournament by far.

USA goaltending is not as strong as Canada.

This is the team without Keith, Benn and Seguin. Just too much talent in this generation of players, it's not really close. Apart from Kane, who else from USA would be a lock to make team Canada?

Id name Kessel in a heartbeat. Gamebreaker and was one of the best forwards the whole tournament at Sochi.

Schneider, Suter, Pavelski would safely be on Canada imo. Then you have guys like Wheeler and Parise who would always be in the discussion.

USA now needs to score three on Canada's overwhelming defense that doesn't give up many chances and Price. Additionally, they cannot give up a goal for the rest of the game. USA is playing poorly again.

Chances? 0.5%

For those saying Quick is trash on the international stage, he is the only reason the game against Canada was close at Sochi and TJ Oshie doesn't get a chance to be an American Hero if Quick doesn't stop something like 12 shootout attempts.

He just got beat by a highly skilled player on a great move. So if Schneider gets beat there, it's a good move but Quick gets beat and he sucks because it doesn't fit your agenda?

Schneider hasn't earned the benefit of the doubt so he needed to perform in the pre-tourney games. Quick has earned the benefit of the doubt with Team USA but also performed in the pre-tourney games.

It's a pretty easy decision, actually. The deck was stacked against Team USA to begin with so it isn't a shocker if they lose this game. The guy with the more impressive big game resume who isn't close to being dead yet--no matter what the armchair jockeys in here want to believe--won the job, simple as that.

Easy to snipe in hindsight. I started all of my Saints and Giants in fantasy football last week because it was the smart decision. Wound up being wrong but doesn't mean it wasn't the logical move going into Sunday's games.

Wrong.

The logical thing to do would be to have the better puck stoppers (Schneider and Bishop) be 1a and 1b while Quick would man the press box. Both goalies have proven to be better at goaltending over a sample size of hundreds of games. Big Game Johnny Quick has been average to garbage in 4 of his 6 playoff seasons, including just one of his cup wins (2012). The Kings won in spite of him in 2014, especially vs. the Sharks and Hawks. He's like any other goalie in that he has strong periods of play followed by poor play. The difference between him and Bishop and Schneider is that they limit their poor play much better than Big Game Johnny Quick.

I hope we get blown out. The management and coaching staff deserve it.

Honestly the worst showing at a major tournament I've ever witnessed from a US team. Tortorella shouldn't be permitted to be a stock boy, let alone head coach.

Agree. Quick is not the reason why the US is getting outplayed

Quick should've been pulled, not because of his play but to wake his team up. I have no idea what is going on in the heads of the coaching staff. Torts has completely lost it.

Well, as I don't like Burke (and I mean hockey-hate in the most passionate sense of the word), building (or supervising) a team to be all grity and "beat Canada" is dumb Babcock said it best - "what if you don't MEET Canada" (i mean to be fair, in most tournaments Canada/USA are either in the same pool, or ultimately end up, but the point is valid - why build your team to beat 1 team. build your team to beat ANY team. you don't know whom you are going to face).

I'm trying to think who the best choice for the US would be coach wise. I am thinking Jon Cooper (because he's a dual if not American - but he's with team NAT). I don't see USA Brass hiring the new DET coach.. and I regret I don't know the nationalities of all 30 coaches) - but i mean. Paul Maurice is part of team Europe's coaching staff, so who knows whose allowed to coach, right?)

they were saying on the radio - you have Marchand + Getzlaf playing the role of Dubinsky.
who in the USA can beat that - so you have Dubinsky playing the role of Dubinsky. you can name several people to go ahead of Dubs, but if you want that skill-rugged edge who is better (legit question, i dunno). I wouldn't have named him to the team either.

you guys had some injuries (Kessel) and dumb mandates. so maybe by bowing out early, Burke/Lombardi can go away and then you can use Poile(was it Poile?) who built team USA for sochi who until you hit Canada was pretty darned good.

Jeff Blashill and Jon Cooper have known each other for a couple decades. They talk almost daily, saying the playoff series was the only time they actually took a break. If either of them are put in charge of Team USA they would put the other on their staff.

I like the Devils coach I believe he is American. Run with three of the brighter young minds in hockey and start revamping the program.

Top line should play about 5 more mins in this game, no need for them to be out there. I'm going to be estatic when the Jackets fire Torts, dude has no business being in hockey, Milbury status to say the least.

Schneider, Suter, Pavelski would safely be on Canada imo. Then you have guys like Wheeler and Parise who would always be in the discussion.

Pavelski should (and would) be a lock. Schneider would not safely make it. Suter would likely make it. Parise would potentially make it (but I'd bet against that). Wheeler would have a shot.
