I went and watched the first 2 periods tonight. I don't take much stock in overall team play and overall score, as the roster is a mix of regulars and guys trying to make it, coach isn't trying to match up lines, regulars aren't likely giving it their all, he's not giving top lines enormous TOI, etc..
Re: the guys trying to make it (and this is just the impression of this game):
Through the first 2 periods, Gerbe and Terry stood out. Bowman as well, but hard to tell how much of that is because he was on a line with Semin/Staal, but he looked good. Gerbe looked good and was hustling all over the place. If he plays like that continuously, I can't see him not being on the squad. Terry looked much better than Dalpe or Welsh. Dalpe and Welsh looked like AHLrs in the 2 periods I saw them.
I like Lindholm's game, but he doesn't seem ready to me. Smart player, good defensively, but needs more strength and he was knocked around quite a bit. Wouldn't surprise me if he was sent back to Sweden for a year. My guess is the Canes won't send him back, but it won't surprise me if they do.
Defensively, hard to say too much. Murphy's offensive skill is really fantastic. If he can play even "ok" defensively, he's a big asset, especially on the PP. The guy is a lot of fun to watch and can really make things happen.
