Sure do notice Matthews. :handclap:

... Seriously? I just posted how you can't expect anything from Laine under the circumstances, and you bring up Matthews who plays under the polar opposite circumstances?

Matthews is playing on an utterly dominant team owning the puck and where everything is working right now. Big shock that he is more noticeable.

Just as I expected, Marjamäki benching Barkov (and Laine & Aho) for no real reason.
The gain of not playing your best center? Beats me. He's managing to screw the team over nicely by not even giving the guys a chance and they are probably the only ones capable of scoring. Awesome!
**** Marjamäki, I've seen enough of him to know what he's like.

Donskoi-Koivu-Granlund only finnish line which can actually fly through the neutral zone, largely thanks to Granlund.

Nothing to discard, but in this game both have very young, inexperienced Dmen. The difference is one team has an amazing group of forwards and the other has a few guys but they can't do it all alone.

Yea I get what you mean, but what I'm getting at is if Finland can't win on talent they need to win systematic, controlled, responsible play. Something their defense lacks because of their inexperience. Of course talent also plays a role.

Can I get Nuge, Mak and Parayko on the Lightning to play with Dru please

Johnny Hockey - Eichel - Larkin is going to be an awesome line for team USA for a long time. Best line on the ice tonight.

You just triggered a million canadians

Would be really nice if you stopped this. He has played very well, but posts like this are what give people ammunition against us Leaf fans.

You, sir, are a scholar and a gentleman.

We notice McDavid, Eichel, Gaudraeu, Drouin, Mackinnon and Parayko as well. It's hilarious how much you guys love to stroke this kid.
You don't see legions of Buffalo or Edmonton fans in here stroking their players like this...

Toronto fans haven't had dozens of games of watching Matthews play for their team like we did. Give them their moment.

Pretty invisible. I don't think he's made many mistakes with the puck though, which is what I'm looking for and at least is an improvement from the first few games.

I'm not sure how much of the reason his line's getting dominated is him, though. It's likely got something to do with his play without the puck if it is.

Its been on his stick what, once? Twice all game? He's got all that size to out muscle players for the puck.

I was just expecting a little more from him is all.

He's had quite a few turnovers.

Boring game.. Nothing after the whistle and no intensity. Yeah team NA is fast and skilled but there are no emotions when playing against gimmick teams.

If you need a storyline to enjoy one of the fastest, skilled hockey teams ever assembled I dont know what to tell you.

Ah right. I think this was somewhat expected before the puck drop, maybe not to this level though.

You think that Barkov's been good? Can't really agree with that...

No finnish player has been good. "1st" line is not getting any ice time, mostly because Aho and Laine skating around like headless chickens.

I mean I shouldn't be surprised anymore, but it's pretty crazy to expect the youngest player in this tourney to turn this game for us.
Like you say u23 has dominated for 40 minutes and Laine is expected to fix that on his own?
No pressure on him I guess.

No... There's no intensity because it's a blowout. The only finn who isnt completely deflated is Komorov.

Say goodbye to Finland at the 2020 Bettman Cup. They and the Czechs clearly don't belong at an event as prestigious as this.

Can't be having 6-0 and 4-0 games when the whole point of this field was to do away with those 3-2 and 2-1 blowouts involving teams like Slovakia and Latvia.

Granlund-Koivu-Jokinen
Donskoi-Lehterä-Komarov
Laine-Barkov-Aho
Filppula-Haula-Korpikoski

Filppula isn't playing well, Lehterä on wing isn't working, Donskoi should be better too. D is a mess. We really need a physical, nasty dman. Unfortunately nobody fits that description now.
Rinne into the press box.

What legions of Buffalo fans?

50 years of futility. We deserve this.
