Team NA plays such a phenomenal style of hockey. Completely smashing the Finns, this could easily be 7-0 right now.

Larkins a little puke. Cross checking a guy into the net after a whistle? Really?

Larkin is a baby. I remember him whining to a ref because of someone landing a hit on him at the allstar game

For finland's sake hopefully someone steps up for the Finns and demands they regain a little bit of respect in the third. Another period like that and yeeesh that would be the type of embarrassment that just shatters all confidence.

Just as I expected, Marjamäki benching Barkov (and Laine & Aho) for no real reason.
The gain of not playing your best center? Beats me. He's managing to screw the team over nicely by not even giving the guys a chance and they are probably the only ones capable of scoring. Awesome!

The age thing was completely overblown before the tourney. Heck put Finnish U-23 against Finland and the U-23 guys would probably win.

Team-NA puck movement might be even faster than team Canada's. Can't see Russia beating them with their defense but Sweden might have a chance as their gap control and stick play from their D is so good.

I'm pretty sure it's gonna be NA - Kanada final.

im stunned.

I don't think sweden or russia can match this NA team.

Dunno why Finland's coach changed the D-pairings.
I know they started with Maatta-Risto, etc. and they were fine, even getting a W over Sweden with them.

Why'd he change them?

Experience on defense plays a part.

But whatever floats your boat if you just want to discard Finland's inexperience on D. Learning how to maintain gaps and less panicky turnovers help against speedy high skilled teams. It's not rocket science. It's not the key, but it certainly helps to lessen bleeding.

Nothing to discard, but in this game both have very young, inexperienced Dmen. The difference is one team has an amazing group of forwards and the other has a few guys but they can't do it all alone.

Except for 3 of 4 goals.

Don't take it so literally :)

Team NA as a whole is just good. He's fit in damned well for someone with zero NHL experience though. He's created chances pretty much every shift and he's one of the good ones out there tonight.

He's the only one touching the puck and noone else on his line know what to do with this pressure...laine might not even be able to play left wing in the nhl.. he can't make a play outside his special spot in the ozone...

Why don't you take a look at that Komarov-Filppula-Jokinen line which has been a complete joke today.
Every damm shift they are getting dominated.

Where's Laine?

Pretty invisible. I don't think he's made many mistakes with the puck though, which is what I'm looking for and at least is an improvement from the first few games.

I'm not sure how much of the reason his line's getting dominated is him, though. It's likely got something to do with his play without the puck if it is.

Boring game.. Nothing after the whistle and no intensity. Yeah team NA is fast and skilled but there are no emotions when playing against gimmick teams.

I'm still not convinced this team can match Canada though. We've got to see that.

I wonder though, did Europe beating USA bother you? I'm a USA fan and I just enjoyed seeing some quality hockey.

It bothered me slightly, as I realized it could very well mean that USA doesn't advance and we could see one less national team in the semifinals. It didn't bother me as much then but now I fear 2 out of 4 semifinal teams might be non-national teams. I'm simply a fan of more traditional national tournament formats.

Sure do notice Matthews. :handclap:

We notice McDavid, Eichel, Gaudraeu, Drouin, Mackinnon and Parayko as well. It's hilarious how much you guys love to stroke this kid.
You don't see legions of Buffalo or Edmonton fans in here stroking their players like this...

You think that Barkov's been good? Can't really agree with that...
