What does the EU have to do with this? The Olympics didn't have a 'Team Europe' either, it's just a gimmick meant to draw more spectators. Most (if not all) athletes prefer performing for their own country.

Quick wasn't the proper selection based on the past two season's statistics, nothing to do with results in this game.

not sure why anyone would have written Europe off. I mean they essentially have the best players of the rest of the nations not playing here, all of which are solid national teams. If you look at the squad it's bunch of solid players.
