Back then I started following him when he played in Russia. It was obvious he was special from the very first minute I saw him. If course, there were no guarantees that he would be 1C but at least it was clear that he has a chance to become a very good player.

I don't see anything special in Kasper except for relatively big body. What does he need to develop to become 2C for a playoff/contender team?
Kasper is not going to be elite player, but I believe, because he is smart and plays like power forward he could be very good support for more skilled wingers .

Nothing is his game indicates that he is 50-60 pts producer. Raymond is that kind of player and he is far superior in terms of skill.

We once again overvalue out prospects.
Seriously where is this guy getting consistent 20 goals from? This guy can't score goals in the AHL and couldn't score them in the SHL

At the end of the day, you must have highly skilled forwards. What we draft are character complementary players.
No, what we have done is to spend high draft capital on a very important position that we can't easily find in the trade or UFA markets: centers. He may have some limitations in parts of his game, but the kids absolutely projects as a center.

I also find it a bit confusing that several fans complain about how much our prospects are scoring, when the current roster in Detroit has a top 5 offense and a bottom 5 defense.

Yes, guys that dominate a box score are always a need. But keeping the puck out of our own net and being hard to play against in general are pretty huge deficiencies at the moment, and guys like Kasper and Danielson should help in those departments.

I think it's fair to question how sustainable that top 5 goals for output is over the next few years.

If you expect us to continue to be that, sure. But I'd say it's pretty understandable for people to question that. Especially when we were bottom 10 in that stat in each of the last 2 seasons.

It may not be, but if we have learned anything in the last seven years it is that centers don't grow on trees. If you want them, you need to go draft them, repeatedly. I like our chances of finding a good offensive winger in the trade or UFA markets a lot better than our chances of finding a competent center there.

I mean it took us how long and how many years of struggling to score goals before we were able to trade for a player like DeBrincat? I get what you are saying. Drafting surefire centers is nice. But if those surefire centers top out as 3rd liners, it doesn't really make a difference either.

Currently I don't think Danielson or Kasper are on a "very good 2nd line center" trajectory, but I hope at least one of them can get back on that trajectory within the next year or so. (As we know development isnt always linear, and I think one of them will.) If so I think we are OK with having them occupy the middle six center spots.

And how long and how much cap space did we invest to find someone who could play #2C? Do we even have a true #2C today?

If you want to win, you need strong center play. That much will always be true in hockey.

A bit off topic here, but Raymond's ceiling is far higher than 50-60. He should be in the 60-65 point range this year, and spent most of the season on the 2nd PP unit, and for whatever reason Lalonde doesn't put him on the ice late in games when we need a goal. Once his opportunity increases, and he continues to improve his game, Raymond should be a point per game player.

Sprong is on pace
For over 50 points this season

So can someone who actually watches Griffins a lot write a short whats good and whats bad about Kasper atm? I have been able to watch only 2 Griffins games this season and have to just pretty much look at numbers and messages here (and everyone knows that if a prospect isnt scoring a lot hes a bust).
