Agree with this - though it's early for a bunch of these guys (Pionk, Chytil, Andersson, ADA, etc...). It's the earlier "wave" that's really not doing it for me - Skjei, Buch, Hayes, etc...

I'd be all for trading Skjei. He was given an extension based on his rookie season. He had a bad sophomore year, and has been even worse to start the third season. It's still early, and I think he has to improve, but his defense is terrible. He needs sheltered minutes. He cant face the elite forwards in the NHL.

Going to regret that contract later on.

That's a young second pairing two way dman contract. Fair value. He's playing as the 1D out there with no help from his partners. Skjei's contract is fine, his play is fine for it as well. Just being put into a tough spot right now.

Pionk is 23 and ADA is turning 23 soon. I don't really see much growth at this point.

Didnt we think he had potential to be 1st pair after his first season? I think he was put in the role because he was eventually expected to be there. Unfortunately, due to the rebuild, he was put in that position too soon, and its apparent.

It's asking a lot from ANY d-man to be able to handle top pair minutes without struggling after two seasons. Not his fault the Rangers are in this position

Just accept the suck. People have been complaining for years that we're never bad enough to draft elite talent. This year we're finally bad enough and people are still complaining. It's not fun to watch but it's something that needs to happen

I agree. Not everyone is a Marchand and develops into a superstar in their late 20s. Most defense men at 23 should be either in their prime or getting close to it [defense men take longer to develop]. But, at 23, what you see is what you will get.
