Yup, going with a kid with a handful of NHL starts over the 2 time SC winner and #1G to start the season.
Who knows. Maybe Woll will be to us what Murray was to the pens all those years ago. Comes in and steals the series and takes us to lord Stanley. Only time will tell.

I don't want Shanny going anywhere. He's been a breath of fresh air really.

Only thing he effed up was his comment about hoping these young guys take a discount, that backfired for sure, but otherwise I like him a lot.

Keefe has to go, maybe he's not bad but we need to try something else maybe (assuming we lose) and dude also says the F word WAY too much and I can swear with the sailors just fine. It's just too much and probably gets a bit grating.

Dubas..............I'd have him back, but he's a free agent and will immediately get another job if he wants. I don't think it's up to the Leafs to retain his services, I think Dubas himself may want to work somewhere else.
So....basically just run it all back again?

The QC
The difference with Murray coming in for Pittsburgh is that he had horses in front of him.
We have ponies.
Mini ponies!!!

You could also say he's going with the goalie with the best stats this year over the goalie that hasn't played for more than a month and only had 4 games since the start of 2023 this year over .900 (out of 12).

Here's a concerning stat. Murray's monthly average save percentages since the start of the year where he played more than 1 game (none in Feb, 1 each in October and April):
.938
.911
.883
.886

Could Murray help the Leafs battle back and play better than Woll? Sure. However, it's a huge gamble either way so don't pretend it's an obvious call.

I like having Woll in. He's had a great year and might give us the boost we need to get back into this series. He also gets vital playoff experience for his future as he very well might be our #1 next year.

Woll starting is the right call, getting Murray was just a dumb move by Dubas. Everyone knew it had very little chance of working out.

If they screw that kid over they can all go and get *******, I don't want any of them back

I can accept a lot of stuff but letting the kids get the crap kicked out of them is completely unacceptable to me for any team
No doubt. Don’t give him the Kaskisuo for sure.

I like Woll as well but we did not get Murray to backup Woll in what could be our last game of the season. If Murray is 100%, he should be in. As @Trapper said, you may as well have stuck with Mrazek.

Pretty hard to come in cold to a season deciding game.

Keefe makes a lot of bad decisions but this isn't one of them.

Maybe Ryan O'Reilly will stand up in the room and call out the effort level challenging them to compete harder.

Maybe, I hope so.

But the body language and demeanour I get from this group in general is that don't care what anyone else says, nor do they want anyone telling them what to do, what it takes, etc.

Clearly M&M are running this show and they're going to put in exactly the amount of effort they feel like, and **** everyone else if they don't like it.

Who cares about what we paid to get Murray in regards to this game... They're two separate things.

If it would be more beneficial to have Timmins draw in for McCabe or Simmonds for ORielly (it isn’t), I'd put them in too. All that matters right now is putting together the best lineup available.

this isn't a movie

As far as movies go .. We might be at the opening credits of the next movie Miracle .

The true story of the 2023 Maple Leafs who found themselves all but out and down 0-3 in their series, with little hope and given up for dead, with sweeping changes hanging in the balance. managed to pull off one of the greatest Miracles in modern times sports events and went on hoist the Stanley Cup against all odds.

Miracle [ The Comeback ]

Leafs unsung hero rookie goalie Joseph Woll the winner of the 2023 Conn Smythe trophy was quoted as saying ... "You just have to be-Leaf".

Breaking news another Leafs Nation shitstorm is on the horizon.

By implying another shitstorm is coming, you're suggesting we've escaped the previous one.
We haven't.
Hoping they just lose tonight and wrap it up - I'm done with them, and the idea of them prolonging this is just nauseating to me.

It’s so surreal for such a highly vaunted program and group of players to have an expiry date like they are entering tonight’s game.
I wouldn’t say it’s an expiry date… it’s more like they are stale. The Bruins are hitting their expiry date, we have an open bag of chips that has lost its crunch. 7 years with the same core with 1 playoff round win is unacceptable with the talent we have. If we lose tonight, I want a massive over haul. I don’t mean just trading 1 of the core and keeping Dubas and re tooling. Nooo, players, coaches, executives should all feel some sort of heat for massively under achieving
