Good analysis. I agree. It is a very good observation. And I'm not being sarcastic.

Moore is usually poor defensively though. It did not surprise me much.

Honestly, I think the thing that makes me so mad is that it was just SO ****ing lazy. There's just no excuse to play a 2-on-1 LAZILY.

Exactly. I played a lot of defense when I played. I made that mistake once, was benched, and learned from it. Cannot believe a professional player would play that as bad as Moore did, there.

It's so frustrating watching John Moore play. He skates well and can shoot well. His positioning and decision making can be absolutely befuddling at times. I still believe in his potential, but come on. I never played defense, but I did play and even I know that was laughably lazy.

You're forgetting Hank.

I think everyone knows that I'll blame Hank when I think he's truly at fault. As nevesis said, he played the angle poorly and was too deep. But in the scheme of things, he's nowhere near as at fault as Moore is. I'd rank them in terms of fault as:

Moore

MSL
Hank

Girardi

Yeah I played D too. It's defense 101 when you have a goalie like Hank, to take the pass away.

I don't mind him as a bottom pairing guy. I mean, I think he's valuable as a bottom pairing dude for sure. But he's got a 10-cent brain for sure. It really is a shame.

It's Hank's job to stop the puck, not worry about how the opposition got to that position. Sometimes, there's nothing you can do about the bad play in front of you, other times you can keep your team in a game by making a save. This was clearly one of those times.

I can see him being a second pairing guy if he gets his head out of his rear end. Right now, I'd rather see him scratched and Diaz in when McD is back in the lineup.
