Being a Rangers fan has to be harder than being a fan of any other team.

Get dominated on a nightly basis and still have a chance to win.

Lundqvist is appropriately paid. He is the face of the franchise and his performance.

Problem is, Girardi and M. Staal making $5-6M are not earning their contract. Rick Nash at $8M is underperforming. Boyle is not worth the $5M he was given. Too many players are on bad contract. People point to Lundqvist, however, when the money delegated to him is well spent.

Rangers have more bad contracts than most teams.

Imagine on the free agent market

Personally i dont think he'd get that much more, but who knows.
As well as being well compensated throughout his career, Hank has played for a team that spends to the cap every year and has tried to ice a team that can win the cup. Yeah, they haven't quite got there, and you can question some of the moves/decisions made in the makeup of the team, but people sitting there and sayihg that Hank is only one that cares and its not fair etc are completely out to lunch IMO.

Why dont they feel sorry for staal? Hes been with team as long as Hank, and sure he doesn't have his skill, but he's suffered a brain injury and almost lost an eye for the team yet he still goes out every shift and battles. Why doesnt he 'deserve' it?

Stepan is another one at $6+ M that is a poor contract. Forgot about him initially.

The King wanted to win the cup in New York when he signed the contract.

Any GM of a competitive team would have moved some contracts to get Lundqvist.

Unload Kreider too, this is all he is. Until he starts asserting himself more he will never be more than a 20-20 player.

Unloading Kreider scares me.... he could still be a helluva player (I doubt it, but who knows... :))

But what could he bring back?

Yup, Girardi, Staal, Boyle, Nash, Stepan is about $30-31M. Thats the problem. Too many players with brutal contracts.

Right, and i commend him, but the Rangers are trying to win the cup (not very successfully). Hank was fully aware of the teams MO (as we all seem to be as well, so its not hard to see) and made his choice, so why suddenly feel bad for him? We walked in with eyes wide open

Sure he's not as good, but im not sure the difference is almost $3m in cap soace a year

Quick can be average, and the Kings would still be really good.

Lundqvist has to stand on his head and on some nights it's still not enough.
