Post-Game Talk: 7 Goals, 0 Drai Points = Me So Sad

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I'm not sure which version of Kane we will be getting but I still believe he will have an impact on the Oilers. The Oilers just play so much better with physical presence in the lineup.

I just don’t know if we will see the physical presence.

I'll bet that's another purposefully misquoted radio tidbit by the usual suspects.
He said it during the intermission on TV.

I don’t think he said they forced coaching to do it but he did say that was their preference and that they’ve discussed it during high level discussions recently.

If you’re the coach you probably listen to your superiors though.

I'm not convinced Frederic will be on the 2nd line with Draisaitl.
Scoring. Load Management. Scoring. Why I followed listing all the support scoring tonight. Take a load off...
Obviously they were pushing hard for Drai to get his points.
But it was too many minutes. Knob typically plays McDavid and Drai excessive minutes all season. Really only MacKinnon and Kaprizov see that much ice time, and no time plays two guys that much.
Last night might have been the fewest minutes McDavid has played all year.
Helps when you get some secondary scoring.

Stetcher now appears ahead of Emberson in the pecking order. I think Stetcher is the better option. Will see if Klingberg draws in ahead of both once he is healthy again.

Not sure that Frederic will be a top six guy when he returns.

Would love to get the old Evander Kane back to add a legit top 6 winder to Draisaitl's wing. But not sure what to expect of a guy who spent the season on IR...

Does Kane need approval from NHLPA to get a few conditioning stints in Bakersfield before the playoffs?

McDrai are better, but a healthy Ekholm might just be single most valuable/important piece on this team.
and i'm gonna say it cause he takes a lot of flack here, but nurse was awesome again. ever since he got his dome rung hes been a warrior for us, that made darnel fight me at center ice and even after hes still mad is the nurse i love. overpaid potentially but id rather have nurse at 9+ playing that way than not have him.

Bruhhhh

Skinner-Mcdavid- Hyman
Kane - Drai - frederic
Arvi nuge podz
Brown-henrique-Janmark

Ekholm Bouchard
Nurse Walman
Kulak Emberson/Klingberg
It's refreshing to have a positive outlook for this club once again. Personally it's the first time since before the club refused to match the offer sheets.

No Perry no finals. Doesn't mean he has to play every game.

We have depth we didn't have last season or seasons previous.

If Kane is available and healthy, along with Fredric, Podkolzin and Perry we have the beef to take those center lanes to the net that we didn't possess in previous postseasons.

Tomorrow will be a test. Strange sport. Van loses to Utah last game 4-1 then destroys the Jets 6-1 last night with Helly in net.

Guessing Brown is a placeholder for Frederic when hes back on the second line.

Kapanen is probably a placeholder for Brown.
Depth. Have guys playing hard in the dirty areas giving it all while the club rotates the lineup keeping everyone rested and into the games/series.

yes as soon as he comes off LITR he hits the cap so they would ease him back at practice imo

No, he's being forced to trust the under performing forwards. It's not as simple as just use them, but it seems to have worked out in the end.

It's not really a surprise, defensive minded coaches tend to be some what idiotic/clueless when it comes to offensive deployment and strategy.

He's a downgrade on Woodcroft in that regard. Is what it is, you have to take the bad with the good.

Knob is a moron when it comes to forwards confirmed.
Confirmed? I don't believe it. I'd need a direct quote from Stauffer, and even then it's suspect af. Stauffer isn't a liar but it seems like an idea he might just been thinking out loud about

For f*** sakes with this nonsense. It's so weird you assume other coaches don't just lean on their best players. It is better to run Sam Carrick late in games to try and tie things up?

The combination of the struggles of the forwards and the failure of the goalies broke how he was trying to manage the roster through the down swing. Obviously he needed an outside voice, but the results from the players are also coming.
