Post-Game Talk: 7 Goals, 0 Drai Points = Me So Sad

They may never score another goal, but I like Kap and Janmark as 4th liners. Both hound the puck well and for the most part keep it moving in the right direction (and more importantly they can both carry it up ice).

If I'm Brown, my seats getting warm with Frederic on the horizon. Perry's not a long term solution for the 2th line, but right now he's seems like a good fit with Drai. Also Fred-Drai-Perry sounds like a fun line to finish the season.

I'd go into Winnepeg with...

Skinner-McDavid-Hyman
Henrique-Drai-Perry
Podz-RNH-RV
Janmark-Kap-Jones/Ryan/Brown

Our 3rd line is finally doing something other than being a black hole of offense. Love that line, they get softer matchups and are producing which takes the preasure off of line 1 & 2

Brown's going to be pretty safe unless Frederic kills penalties. Also considering the coach's feelings on Skinner.

That Nuge one touch to get puck out on pk and breakout was filthy. Then the finish backhand while evading two checkers. Wow. Then the drop pass to Podz, perfectly executed. Pass to Hyman as well.

On the McD goal he gets all the credit but that breakout pass from Ekholm to his partner Booch who perfectly one touches the puck to McD at the exact moment in time is some next level madness. The elite skill from all 3 required for this play to even occur. But People look at that play and see all McD. They were all in on it. You spill that goal on a club and they're thinking that isn't even fair. Wave the white flag.

As someone on here said (please if you know who you are lmk I’ll give you credit) Ekholm is the straw that stirs the drink on this team.

Our defence has basically been lost at sea since the 4 Nations which coincided with Ekholm getting sick/injured. Now that he’s back this defence is crazy good at moving the puck. Ekholm, Bouchard, Walman are all elite puck movers and make plays that get the puck out quickly without icing or Kris Russelling it. With Kulak playing so well this season too it sometimes feels like we have 5 top 4 dmen.

If Picks and Stu can maintain any sort of consistency, we’ll once again be a very tough out in the playoffs. Contrary to the chicken littles predicting a first round exit after we experienced some adversity.

What an awesome game to watch. My goodness, Utah's defense is terrible..i feel like we had 6 or 7 breakaways. The score could have been even worse!

Everyone watching on TV or in the building was praying for at least one Drai point to keep the streak alive. Better yet, a goal to hit 50. That one PP, he had 3 solid shots on net but they weren't going in. He was in pain, and really should have been rested. I hope that it's not a long term issue. We need a healthy Drai for playoffs.

Nuge is back. Amazing what a 3 point night can do for your confidence. Ekholm is our stability on the backend. What a different team with him... Glad we scratched Emberson.

I don't think any player didn't have an awesome game! Even #42 (despite his inability to score) played well!

Drivesaitl: #33 slowly winning you over lately yet? He's going to be a contributor in this last stretch and during the playoffs - watch!

And yet their defense was supposed to be a strength this year and people drooling about their goaltending. To add Stauffer was also drooling about the speed the Hockey Club has. Team just looked like pretenders to me.

As for Ekholm he has that calming factor to him. Not only on the ice, but on the bench and in the locker room. Granted our d-core doesn't exactly have much for inexperience or youth anymore, but he has always been talked about as a guy that has the conversations with players and gets them back in the game.

Was also nice to see Nurse engaged physically, this team desperately has missed a guy like Kane that would consistently be physical or engaging with the chirps. Far too many games this team missed that guy that would go out there and do something that didn't result in points, but fired the team up. Hoping that Frederic and Kane can add that element back to the lineup when they are back.

In all fairness this isn't exactly rocket science. Having a guy with Nuge's skillset on the third line should result in an effective 3rd line. Especially if you have Leon and Connor on separate lines, it just gives you such an edge when it comes to line matching.

It also forces Nuge to be more engaged when playing center. A lot more responsibility at center and at the end of the day it seems wingers that play with Connor or Leon just wait for those two guys to do something.

I just wish we tried things out sooner in the season. I mean better late than never, but I don't get why coaches don't give their lineups a longer shot to try gel instead of after one period bringing the blender out.
